Nevratice lies on the banks of the Javorka. The village’s history includes two religious monuments on the village square, a former school with a bust of Jan Ámos Komenský, and preserved log houses as examples of folk architecture. There is also a route for pedestrians and cyclists between Nevratice and Chomutice, as well as a playground for the youngest children. The village thus brings historical points of interest together with practical ways to spend your stay.

History from the Middle Ages to the Schoolhouse

The oldest written mention of Nevratice dates from 1398. The estate of Mikuláš z Úlibic is also documented in that same year. Together, these records place the earliest written reference to the village in a period when a specifically named estate had already been recorded.

A later chapter in the village’s history can be seen in the former school. The idea for the building dates to 1908, and it was completed in 1911. The school has a bust of Jan Ámos Komenský. In contrast with the medieval reference, this points to a much more recent chapter: a school building whose planning and completion are marked by two different years.

Religious Monuments on the Village Square

A Baroque sculpture of Saint John of God stands on the village square. It is set on a plinth with a relief of Saint Florian; the work dates from 1782. The combination of the figure and the relief makes the monument more than a single statue: the plinth also bears its own religious motif.

Another monument on the village square is the Crucifixion monument, dating from 1774. It depicts the body of Christ on a plinth with a relief of the Virgin Mary. Both works thus combine religious imagery with the design of their plinths. Their dates of creation are eight years apart—a concise chronological comparison between two monuments in the same square.

Log Houses and the Story of Křížek

Nevratice has preserved log houses that are examples of folk architecture. They complement the individual monuments with a different kind of historical evidence: rather than a figure or a relief, a traditional building style is part of the village’s character. Those interested in cultural history will find a variety of points of interest, from religious works of art to the preserved houses.

The sandstone monument “Křížek” has a story of its own. As part of a restoration project funded in 2008, it was moved to the built-up area of Nevratice. Benches and a litter bin were installed at the memorial site.

Route between Nevratice and Chomutice

The route between Nevratice and Chomutice is designed for pedestrians and cyclists and runs alongside road II/327. It was completed in 2018. This provides a specific connection for two modes of travel. As a reason to visit, it differs from the village’s historical sites: here, the focus is on a route between two named places, while elsewhere it is on Nevratice’s history.

Nevratice also lies on the banks of the Javorka. A children’s playground for the youngest children is located next to the municipal office. For families travelling with small children, it is a practical local point of interest, complementing the cultural and historical themes with a facility specifically intended for the youngest visitors.

Nevratice is also associated with a competition: on 21 June 2025, the local Volunteer Firefighters’ Association held the eighth edition of “Nevratická Bludička.” The night-time fire-sport competition is for children and young people.

If village history is your main interest, the former school, log houses and monuments are the highlights. If you would like to include a walking or cycling activity, you can add the route to Chomutice to your itinerary. For those travelling with young children, the playground is another local point of interest. These different options can help you tailor your search for a hotel or other accommodation in Nevratice to your travel plans.
