Website visits and server logs
When you visit the website, the web server processes technical access data. This may include your IP address, the date and time, the address accessed, the referrer, browser and operating system data, device characteristics, status code and amount of data transferred. This data is required to provide the website, identify errors and ensure secure operation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the online service in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log data is retained only for as long as necessary for operation and security, and is then deleted or anonymised.
Google AdSense and consent
We use Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google and advertising partners integrated through AdSense may use cookies or similar identifiers and store or access information on your device. This may include, in particular, your IP address, pages visited, referrer, browser and device information, approximate location data, and information about ad impressions and interactions. This is used to deliver and measure ads, ensure security and—depending on your choices—personalise advertising.
The Google consent management tool displayed when you visit the website allows you to consent to Google advertising, reject it, or select individual purposes and providers. Personalised advertising and the use of identifiers required for it take place only with your consent. Depending on your choices, limited or non-personalised ads may be displayed; technical data may still be processed for delivery, security and measurement. You can view the participating providers in the consent management tool’s partner list. You can revisit and withdraw your choices using the “Change privacy settings” link below.
You can manage personalised advertising in your Google Account via Google ad settings. Further information is available from Google about advertising technologies and in its Privacy Policy. Google may also process data outside the European Economic Area.
Booking.com partner offers
The website includes an accommodation search and clearly identified partner offers from Booking.com. If you submit a search or follow a Booking.com link, your entries—for example, destination, travel dates and number of guests—and technically necessary connection data are transmitted to Booking.com. Booking.com then processes this data in accordance with its own privacy and cookie policies. The Google consent management tool does not control data processing on the Booking.com website; Booking.com’s own settings and notices apply there. We may receive a commission when you make a booking through a partner link. For details, see Booking.com’s Privacy and Cookie Statement.
Cookie-free audience measurement with Matomo
We use Matomo for statistical analysis at analytics.max-td.com. The current tracker is configured not to set analytics cookies and to respect your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting. Cookie-free does not mean that no data is processed: the address visited, referrer, time, browser and device information, screen resolution and the IP address required for the connection may be transmitted. We use this analysis to understand general website usage and technical issues. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in privacy-friendly audience measurement and improving our service in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Contact enquiries
If you contact us using the contact form, we process the contact details you provide, the content of your message and technically necessary information to respond to your enquiry. If your enquiry concerns a contract, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; for other enquiries, it is our legitimate interest in communicating with you under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data is deleted once your enquiry has been fully dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate reasons for further storage apply.
Recipients and data transfers
Depending on how you use the website, hosting and technical service providers receive data required to operate it. Matomo processes usage data for audience measurement. Google receives data in connection with AdSense; Booking.com receives data when you use its search or offers. Max-TD Pty Limited is based in Australia. Google and Booking.com may also process data in countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required by law for a transfer, appropriate safeguards are used; further information about the respective providers is available in their privacy notices.
Your data protection rights
Subject to the legal requirements, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future. You can submit privacy-related enquiries using the contact form. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
