Konecchlumí is a destination for you if you would like to combine historical traces with a distinctive landscape on your journey. Between a fortification from the Early Iron Age, a former fortified building, sacred art and a protected wetland, the place reveals a diverse character. The individual sites represent different ways of exploring: history becomes visible in buildings and traces in the terrain, while bodies of water and knowledge of nature shape the character of the landscape.

Historical Traces with Their Own Character

One of the most distinctive historical sites is Hradiště Hůra. The fortification dates from the Early Iron Age, covers 0.75 hectares and is protected by a rampart and a ditch. Its extent and preserved defensive structure give the site a clearly recognisable historical character. You can reach the smaller Hradiště Hůra site by following the red-marked trail eastwards towards the summit of Hůra.

In the northern part of Konecchlumí is the former Tvrz – sýpka fortress. It was converted into a granary and is located in a farmyard. The complex also includes an imposing two-storey building with remnants of Renaissance sgraffiti on its façades, as well as an enclosure wall with arcade arches. This site therefore reflects not only an earlier use, but also several architectural details that play a distinctive role in exploring the history of Konecchlumí.

Another unusual detail is the lion on the sandstone mound of Vilém Konecchlumský. The figure faces towards Prague. It is precisely such clear, easy-to-remember details that make the historical monuments of Konecchlumí interesting even for travellers looking for smaller points of interest alongside major cultural destinations.

Wetland and Knowledge of Nature

Konecchlumský mokřad, a protected wetland, lies in the northern part of Konecchlumí. It consists of a cascade of eight ponds that provides a habitat for numerous plants and animals. The sequence of bodies of water gives the area its own landscape structure and clearly distinguishes it from the site's historical complexes.

The Konecchlumský mokřad educational trail serves the inhabitants of Konecchlumí as a place for recreation, learning and communicating knowledge about nature. As a result, the focus here is not only on the landscape itself, but also on exploring its natural interconnections. For your travel planning, this creates a different focus for the day than a visit to the fortification or historical buildings: in the wetland, the focus is on bodies of water, habitats and the accessible communication of nature-related topics.

Art in Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla

The Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla church also adds to Konecchlumí's cultural profile. It contains 14 Stations of the Cross panels by Vladimír Komárek. The paintings were consecrated on 31 March 2001. The artist's full name, the number of panels and the exact date provide this part of the local history with a specific temporal and artistic context.
