Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov: Discover the White Carpathians

Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov lies in the valley of the White Carpathians and combines landscapes, regional history and a variety of activities. The Vlára River flows through the town. This gives you the opportunity to experience a clearly defined landscape where cultural discoveries can be combined with hiking and cycling experiences. If you are looking for accommodation, Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov offers a base from which the town and its surroundings can be explored according to a range of interests.

Landscape between the river and the White Carpathians

The White Carpathians define the character of the surrounding area. Local hiking and cycling trails make it possible to get to know the nature of this mountain region. One particularly distinctive option is the “Na kole motýlími lukami” cycling tour. It runs along the Czech-Slovak border and leads to flowering meadows. This means that the focus is not only on physical activity, but also on a landscape that reveals itself directly during the ride.

Another perspective is offered by the “Čarovnou zemí Gabry a Málinky” excursion. It includes an ascent to the ridge of the White Carpathians. The two options therefore differ significantly: while the cycling tour focuses on the border and the flowering meadows, the excursion climbs uphill to the ridge. This allows you to choose your activity according to whether you prefer a cycling tour or a hike with an ascent.

History and local culture

There are also specific historical sites in the town itself. The parish church of Saint Joseph the Worker dates from 1787. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from the 1730s. Both monuments are visible traces of the town’s history and give a walk a cultural focus.

You will find an unusual collection at the Minimuzeum Gabra a Málinka. Documents, manuscripts and photographs of the entire Tauber family are on display there. Since 2002, the Minimuzeum has been housed as a permanent exhibition in the local library. Hundreds of visitors also gather for the traditional Popovské slavnosti. The festival is therefore a distinct cultural event in the annual calendar.

Outdoor swimming pool and practical orientation

For a more active or relaxing day, the municipal outdoor swimming pool offers several specific facilities: a beach volleyball court, a children’s playground with climbing equipment and swings, as well as refreshment options. If you are travelling with children, these facilities are among the particularly easy-to-understand options available locally. The ski lift, on the other hand, is out of operation and should therefore not be planned as an available winter sports facility.

Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov is located on the main road between Broumovem-Bylnicí and Slavičín. The key factor in your choice is therefore above all which of the town’s documented attractions you would like to use during your stay: the trails in the White Carpathians, the historical sites, the Minimuzeum, the outdoor swimming pool or an event such as the Popovské slavnosti.
