Discover Pozlovice

Pozlovice combines a water-shaped landscape with nature trails, historic buildings and family-friendly attractions. The town lies on the southern edge of the Vizovická vrchovina highlands and on the border of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. Here, nature experiences at the Luhačovická Reservoir, discoveries in the town center and excursions into the region’s history come together.

Water, relaxation and activity at the reservoir

The Luhačovická Reservoir was built on the Šťávnice River in Pozlovice at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, it is used for sports, recreation and fishing. A nature trail at the reservoir tells the story of the former Šťávnice Valley, mills that have since disappeared, floods in Luhačovice, as well as the construction and present-day role of the reservoir. This makes a stay by the water an encounter with the development of this landscape at the same time.

The Stezka zdraví health trail, with ten outdoor exercise stations, also runs around the reservoir. It includes a play structure for children aged three to twelve. During the summer months, the Duha outdoor swimming pool offers opportunities for swimming and relaxation; its facilities include a pool with water attractions, a children’s playground and food and drink services. This makes it possible to combine peaceful hours by the water, outdoor exercise and playful breaks during a stay with varied interests.

Nature trails focusing on local history and natural themes

The Antonína Václavíka nature trail begins in the center of Pozlovice next to the music pavilion. It passes the Church of Saint Martin and the Niva immovable cultural monument before continuing to Luhačovice. Its starting point in the center makes the trail an opportunity to combine local history with a further route section.

The Skřítka Větrníka nature trail in the Větrník landscape presents a different theme. Its six stations focus on wind, wind energy and the concept of a climate spa. Wooden play elements, wooden benches and a picnic set complement the stations. Families may also be interested in the multipurpose sports field by the school: it is intended for tennis, small-sided football, basketball, volleyball, nohejbal and other physical activities.

Cultural monuments in the town and surrounding area

The Church of Saint Martin was rebuilt in stone in 1642 and expanded in 1672 with an extension and side chapels. The church complex is protected as a cultural monument. It includes four stone tombs and a stone crucifix. The church’s historic organs were acquired between 1790 and 1798 and have since been restored. The Pozlovice vicarage also tells the story of the town: it was built in 1757 in the Baroque style, bearing the coat of arms of the Counts of Serenyi. The protected vicarage complex also includes farm buildings with stables and a barn, an enclosing wall and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.

Other registered cultural monuments are located at prominent points in the landscape. The wayside shrine on the field path to Horní Lhota dates from the early 18th century. The wayside shrine at the crossroads of Řetechov dates from 1719. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Pozlovice is registered as a cultural monument and dates from 1774. The ruins of Starý Světlov Castle preserve clearly visible stone walls; restoration and conservation work stabilizes the masonry and protects the cultural monument.

The routes also offer different perspectives on the region. The blue-marked hiking trail from Starý Světlov Castle to Luhačovice passes through Pozlovice. A tourist tram runs on the Luhačovice–Pozlovice route and returns through Pozlovice, passing the Church of Saint Martin. Those wishing to combine culture, landscape and local connections will therefore find various starting points for planning their day.

A local taste of the region

Pozlovice’s character also includes a regional tasting tradition. On March 14, 2026, Pozlovice hosted the 20th tasting of slivovitz and the 17th tasting of honey from Luhačovské Zálesí. These two events point to the town’s culinary connection with its regional surroundings.
