Podkopná Lhota lies in a wooded valley area below the 674-metre-high Mount Kopná. The name of the village itself refers to this location: it is derived from the settlement below the mountain. The Hostýnské vrchy Nature Park is also located within the cadastral area of Podkopná Lhota. Sporting events are also associated with Podkopná Lhota. As part of the “Kopná” timed special stage, racing cars drove through Podkopná Lhota. On 4 October 2025, the Czech BIKETRIAL Championship was scheduled to take place at MORAVANPARK (Podkopná Lhota 113).
