Lipová – Sulphur Springs, Educational Trails and Cultural Monuments

Lipová lies in the valley of the Lipovský potok and in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The village therefore combines a clearly defined landscape with a number of smaller cultural monuments, educational trails and notable individual features. This creates a destination where the connections between nature and local history can be experienced not through elaborate attractions, but through specific places, paths and structures.

Sulphur Springs and an Ancient Beech

There are three sulphur springs in the cadastral area of Lipová. The educational trail to the sulphur springs and cultural monuments was established in 2005 and connects the springs with the cultural monuments in the same area. Another route is the Tatarka Nature Trail, which runs through Lipová and the valley of the Lipovský potok.

One of the notable natural features is the memorial beech (Fagus sylvatica) beside the educational trail. Its age is estimated at 300 to 400 years. It is considered one of the oldest beech trees in the entire region and has a trunk circumference of 5.18 m.

Chapels, a Bell Tower and Monuments

The Chapel of Our Lady of the Sistine carries the year 1766 and is registered as Immovable Cultural Monument No. 1961. The chapel contains a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. Both the building itself and its furnishings are therefore central to this site.

Another chapter in the village's history is told by the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas. It was built in 1929 at the expense of the residents of Lipová. The chapel bears a memorial plaque with the names of the Lipová residents who fell in the First World War. The site thus preserves not only a date of construction, but also a roll-call remembrance of people from the community.

A bell tower with two bells stands in Lipová's village square. The architectural character is complemented by House No. 79, a monument of folk architecture dating from 1851 and bearing monument identification number 1963. A stone cross with relief decoration, signed by S. Minařík in 1876, is protected as Immovable Cultural Monument No. 1962. These different dates – 1766, 1851, 1876 and 1929 – show that the village's history spans several eras.

The nearest railway station is in Slavičín. Lipová is also located on the Slavičín–Haluzice–Vizovice road. Slavičín is therefore the location of the railway station, while the Slavičín–Haluzice–Vizovice road provides access by land. The village is also situated in the valley of the Lipovský potok and in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The educational trails complement this setting with routes through Lipová, the valley and the cadastral area.
