Komárov – Discover Trails, Culture and Landscapes

Komárov combines a manageable local history with trails through the landscape, remarkable trees, ponds and a viewpoint offering views of the Chřiby Mountains. This makes it a destination where nature observation and cultural discoveries can be combined. Particularly interesting is the mix of marked routes, historical traces in the village and individual landscape attractions in the surrounding area.

Hiking and Cycling Around Komárov

A yellow-marked hiking trail from Napajedla to Malenovice passes through the northern tip of Komárov’s cadastral area. Those looking for a longer network of routes can also connect to the Stezky napajedelských emirátů. This trail network comprises around 70 km of marked routes and connects Napajedla with the surrounding municipalities, including Komárov. The routes are intended for pedestrians and mountain bikers.

A practical feature of the Stezky napajedelských emirátů is the information boards along the trails. They point out attractions along the routes and also make the journey an opportunity to get to know the surroundings not only through sport, but also with an appreciation of their history and distinctive features. This allows you to choose between a hike, a mountain bike tour or a stage with selected cultural stops, without reducing Komárov to a single excursion destination.

Church, Chapel and Places of Remembrance

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua is a prominent feature of the village. It was built between 1937 and 1940. The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua was built by Alois Dostál from Napajedla. The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua belongs to the Pohořelice parish. Services are still held there today. For your stay, this site therefore offers not only an architectural landmark, but also an insight into the religious life of Komárov.

Another historical connection can be found in the school building. It was constructed in 1886–1887 and now serves as a kindergarten. A memorial plaque there bears the names of two resistance fighters who were shot on 27 April 1945 at Kalvárie in Napajedla. Such specific places of remembrance give the local history a personal and contemporary-historical dimension that differs from the older sacred buildings.

Ponds, an Ancient Oak and Views of the Chřiby Mountains

About 700 metres northwest of Komárov lie two fish-farming ponds in the valley of the Burava stream. One of them is Rybník Žlébek. The larger pond has a small island and measures approximately 110 × 60 metres. Dense stands of willow and alder line the ponds and define their landscape character. If you would like to include water, waterside vegetation and brief nature observations when choosing your destination, this valley is one of the notable places around Komárov.

Among the notable natural monuments is Dub u Komárova, a sessile oak (Quercus robur) with a trunk circumference of more than 435 centimetres. The tree is designated in the Czech Republic as a protected memorial tree and is approximately 24 metres tall. A different view of the surroundings can be enjoyed from the viewpoint above Komárov, which offers views of the Chřiby Mountains.
