Discover Haluzice: Forests, Trails and Folk Architecture

Haluzice combines wooded landscapes, marked trails and remarkable examples of regional folk architecture. The village lies in the foothills of the Vizovické vrchy and on the northern edge of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. More than half of the cadastral area is covered by forest. Haluzice therefore appeals to travellers who do not want to plan nature experiences and cultural discoveries separately.

Hiking and cycling around Haluzice

The 26-kilometre marked Luhačovice–Haluzice–Vlachovice–Valašské Klobouky hiking trail runs through the Luhačovské Zálesí microregion. A green-marked hiking trail also begins on the western edge of Haluzice.

The location is also interesting when researching cycling routes: a marked section of the Beskydsko-karpatská magistrála long-distance cycle route runs along the western edge of Haluzice. After passing through Lipová, the “Na kole přes Slavičín a Loučku” cycling tour leads to a junction near Haluzice. The same tour recommends a detour to Haluzice because of the magnificent views of the surrounding area. This provides different focuses for planning side by side: a marked hiking trail, a long-distance cycle route and a scenic ride that is explicitly recommended for its views.

Woodlands and small bodies of water

The wooded cadastral area defines the landscape setting of Haluzice. It is complemented by a small pond created on the northern edge of the village. Those who want to take nature trails, forests and the character of a smaller village into account when choosing accommodation can therefore compare Haluzice with other destinations based on these local features.

Folk architecture and the history of the village

A cross dating from 1900 stands in the village square of Haluzice. Another distinctive feature is the hexagonal timber-framed bell tower. The wooden bell tower is regarded as a small monument of folk architecture and has served local residents for 150 years. This polygonal type of bell tower dates from the transition between the 18th and 19th centuries.

The historic layout of the village has also been preserved: former farmhouses in Haluzice are arranged in a horseshoe shape, as was once customary in historic village squares. Haluzice belonged to the Vizovice estate.

The main themes planned for the Vlachovsko Museum are the folk culture, traditions and customs of southern Valašsko. Particular emphasis is to be placed on Vlachovice, Vrbětice, Křekov, Vlachova Lhota and Haluzice. The planned thematic framework places Haluzice within the cultural history of southern Valašsko without reducing the village to a single building.
