Between the Bílé Karpaty, the River Valley and Village Tradition

The village lies at the foot of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area and in the valley of the Horní Olšava, which is also called Šťávnice. At the southern edge of the cadastral area there are wooded areas with the 521-metre-high Kameničná hill. The valley and the wooded southern edge are located in different parts of the cadastral area.

Church and Pilgrimage as Distinctive Features of the Village

A prominent cultural landmark is the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Dolní Lhota. It was built between 2007 and 2014 and consecrated in 2014. The date of the pilgrimage is also important for your travel planning: the Dolní Lhota pilgrimage is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in July, after the pilgrimages in Újezd and Slopné. The construction carried out between 2007 and 2014 complements this recurring annual religious tradition.

The history of the village goes back further. Dolní Lhota first appears in written sources in 1449. A more recent community-based tradition is the carnival procession. It is organised by firefighters and accompanied by a small brass band. The church, pilgrimage, historical mention and carnival thus represent different periods in the village's history, without Dolní Lhota being defined by just one cultural theme.

Transport Routes and Railway Stations When Choosing a Location

The busy Luhačovice–Zlín road runs through Dolní Lhota. Another road branches off from it in the village towards Valašské Klobouky. These transport connections are useful for orientation when checking the location of accommodation within the village. The nearest railway stations are Luhačovice, 7 km away on the Luhačovice–Uherský Brod line, and Zádveřice, 10 km away on the Otrokovice–Zlín–Vizovice line. The two stations are located on different railway lines: Luhačovice on the connection to Uherský Brod, and Zádveřice on the line via Otrokovice, Zlín and Vizovice.

Sports Facilities in the Village

For active days, Dolní Lhota has a tennis court and a multipurpose sports hall. The tennis court has a reservation system where you can check whether the court has already been rented. In addition, the multipurpose sports hall, which was put into operation on 1 October 2009, is available not only to the primary school but also to the general public. Its facilities allow for tennis, volleyball, basketball, floorball, indoor football, aerobics and other sporting activities. The tennis court and the multipurpose sports hall are two different facilities: you can check the court's rental status, while the hall accommodates several sports.
