Vysoká – Churches, History and Hiking Trails

Vysoká lies in the Zlatohorská vrchovina geomorphological unit. A geomorphological unit is a higher-level landscape area shaped by its terrain forms. The figure of 494 m refers to the Stráž hill and not to the entire geomorphological unit. Stráž and Strážnice are different terrain features: Stráž is the highest point in the municipality, while Strážnice is a rise along the blue hiking trail. The landscape is particularly impressive on the 494 m-high Stráž hill above Pitárné, the highest point in the municipality. The hill is therefore located above the part of the municipality from which several hiking trails through the Osoblažský výběžek begin. This gives you a destination where nature observations, historic traces and hiking trails can be experienced together through specific places.

Historic Traces in Vysoká, Pitárné and Bartultovice

Those interested in history will find several historic sites in Vysoká. The remains of a 15th-century fortress are located in the western part of Vysoká. The village is also home to the single-nave Baroque cemetery church of St. Urban, built in 1767. Pitárné is home to the Parish Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1776.

Bartultovice is also home to specific historic sites. There you will find the Radvanského kámen, a gravestone dating from 1760. A wayside shrine dedicated to Saint Florian, a religious monument by the road, also stands near house no. 43 and dates from the 18th century. The gravestone and the wayside shrine represent two different types of monument, and both are located in Bartultovice. In addition to the precise location near house no. 43, the year 1760 remains the historical date associated with the Radvanského kámen.

Landscape and Watercourses

East of Vysoká there are erratic boulders that are considered a natural attraction. In Pitárné, the Petrovický potok and the Mušlov meet; from their confluence onward, the river is called the Osoblaha.

Hiking Trails with Different Destinations

Several hiking trails through the Osoblažský výběžek begin in Pitárné. The blue hiking trail passes the lookout towers on the Strážnice and Hraniční vrch elevations before continuing to Město Albrechtice. The green hiking trail leads from Pitárné around Dívčí Hrad to Bohušov. This gives you two clearly distinct hiking options: one route with two lookout towers and Město Albrechtice as its destination, and another route around Dívčí Hrad to Bohušov. Both trails begin in Pitárné, but they pass different intermediate destinations and end at different points: the blue route passes Strážnice and Hraniční vrch and ends in Město Albrechtice, while the green route goes around Dívčí Hrad and leads to Bohušov.

In Bartultovice, the Czech-Polish border can be crossed by car.
