Slezské Pavlovice can be discovered through two distinctly different aspects: protected water and wetland landscapes with remarkable flora and fauna, as well as the castle, park remains and historical traces in the village.

Protected landscape around Slezské Pavlovice

A central natural area is the Velký Pavlovický rybník Nature Reserve. It covers 30.76 hectares; its cadastral area also includes Slezské Pavlovice. This protected area contains aquatic and wetland ecosystems that provide important habitats for breeding and migratory birds, amphibians and the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina). The name therefore refers not only to a body of water, but to a habitat in which various wetland areas belong together.

The Džungle Nature Reserve is also part of the natural profile. It is a protected area covering 9.9432 hectares in the cadastral area of Slezské Pavlovice. It protects hardwood floodplain forests with old oaks, softwood stands of willows and alders, as well as extensive sedge marshes. These marshes provide a habitat for protected amphibians. There is also a species-rich bird population with breeding habitat and a large population of protected snowdrops.

The Osoblažský výběžek European protected area also includes the cadastral area of Slezské Pavlovice. Those interested in natural regions and protected areas will therefore find a clear geographical context for the destination here, without Slezské Pavlovice being defined solely by a single excursion destination.

Castle, Park Remains and Historical Traces

The cultural history of the village is particularly focused on Slezské Pavlovice Castle. Its present form dates back to a late Baroque reconstruction in the mid-18th century. The castle, dating from the second half of the 18th century, has preserved remains of its castle park. The building and park therefore belong together not merely as individual sights, but also offer a glimpse into the historical design of the estate.

The castle stands on the site of a fortress that probably already existed in the second half of the 14th century. The older fortress and the late Baroque reconstruction represent two different historical phases of the castle site. A visit is therefore interesting not only for the visible Baroque form, but also for the older history of the site. The village also has a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from the second half of the 18th century.
