Cultural history around St. Martin's Church

The most prominent historical landmark in the village is St. Martin's Church. It is a parish church, was completed in 1721 and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The building is a single-nave, longitudinally oriented brick Baroque structure. A prismatic tower sits on the central axis of the façade, giving the church its distinctive architectural silhouette.

The grounds also include a 16th-century rectory. It was altered in the Baroque period and received an Empire-style façade. It is precisely this juxtaposition of different eras that makes the church area interesting to visitors who want to appreciate not just a single building, but the development of a historic townscape.

Another testimony to the history of the village is the 18th-century Liechtenstein castle. It now serves as the town hall. Široká Niva also has a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. In the district of Markvartice is the bunker of the light permanent fortification system SLO VEČ 389ABR, type A-120. It is located about 800 metres from the village centre, next to a paved road and approximately 100 metres from the Široká Niva nature trail. These precise details help visitors include this historic site in their orientation without confusing its location with that of another structure.

Cycle route 6073 runs alongside the SLO VEČ 400BR bunker in the cadastral area of Skrbovice, Široká Niva. Thus, two different fortification structures, each with its own location designation, can be found within the municipality.
