Nová Pláň – Water, Cycle Paths and Local History

Nová Pláň lies between the Slezská Harta Reservoir and Road III/45213. The village combines this location with signposted cycle paths, swimming opportunities and a history that stretches from the copper hammer mill to the construction of the reservoir. Cycle paths with specific routes

Signposted cycle route no. 6142 runs through Nová Pláň. From here, it leads towards Roudno, where it is listed as 22 km. Cycle route no. 6148 begins in Nová Pláň and leads via Liščí díra, Vysoký kámen, Slunečná, Moravský Beroun and Petrovický mlýn to Domašov nad Bystřicí. Nová Pláň is also the starting point for numerous hiking and cycling routes, including a route to the summit of the former volcano Velký Roudný. The stated distance of 22 km towards Roudno provides a clear framework for planning. Route 6148, on the other hand, focuses on the sequence of places: Liščí díra, Vysoký kámen, Slunečná, Moravský Beroun and Petrovický mlýn lie along the way to Domašov nad Bystřicí. Swimming, water sports and time at the reservoir

For a day of swimming, Koupaliště Nová Pláň has a larger swimming pool with a slide and a separate smaller children's pool with a depth of 50 cm. The Koupaliště also includes a beach volleyball court; a 40-metre-long water slide has recently been built on the grounds. There is a parking area and toilets at the second lookout swimming pier. In addition, the local rental station Yachtsport rents out cabin sailing boats. This allows you to distinguish between swimming, beach volleyball, the water slide and renting a cabin sailing boat when planning your trip.

Copper hammer mill, mineral spring and recorded local history

Nová Pláň developed around the copper hammer mill. The copper hammer mill was founded in 1640; in the second half of the 17th century, a manufactory for copper goods and copper cookware was built there. During the construction of the Slezská Harta Reservoir, most of the original buildings of Nová Pláň were flooded; only the southern part of the settlement survived. The healing mineral spring is also connected with this history: after being buried during the construction of the reservoir, it re-emerged at the same location. Even in earlier times, visitors came to Nová Pláň from the surrounding area because of the mineral spring's healing properties.

One of the two monuments of local significance is the former chapel, now Penzion U Jelena. It was designed in the Neo-Gothic style and had a prismatic tower. The school building attached to the former chapel was converted into today's Penzion U Jelena in 1990–1991.
