Obří důl: Nature conservation, history and trails

A marked trail leads through Obří důl to Obří sedlo and onward to Sněžka. This creates a clearly defined connection between the valley, the mountain saddle and the well-known summit of the Krkonoše Mountains. A walking trail through the mountain town

A less mountain-valley-focused option is the “Okolo Pece” walking trail. It begins at the square by Hospoda na Peci. Along the trail, information boards explain the history of the mountain town of Pec pod Sněžkou. The trail therefore has a different focus from Obří důl: the protected landscape and the ascent are not the main attractions; instead, the focus is on the history of the town itself. This may appeal to visitors whose stay alternates between active excursions and a closer exploration of the destination.

Panorama from Hnědý vrch

The Hnědý vrch lookout tower offers views of the main ridge of the Krkonoše Mountains. The panorama includes Luční hora, Studniční hora, Sněžka and Růžová hora. The Pec pod Sněžkou–Hnědý vrch cable car takes visitors almost to the lookout tower. This makes it possible to include the viewpoint as a separate activity with a panorama encompassing several prominent peaks of the mountains.

The KRNAP Information Centre in Pec pod Sněžkou organises accompanied excursions for groups of five or more with a qualified and experienced guide.
