Libotov – Nature, Culture and Family Excursions in the Czech Republic

Forests and a special springtime view

Libotov is surrounded by coniferous and mixed forests. This woodland landscape characterizes the surroundings of the village and forms part of its immediate scenery. The Cherry Avenue adds a special seasonal accent: in spring, it blossoms and offers views of the Krkonoše Mountains and Sněžka. The springtime view combines the blossoming avenue with the mountain panorama. While the forests surround Libotov, the experience at the Cherry Avenue is focused on the flowering season. The two landscape elements therefore represent different time frames: the forests are part of the village’s surroundings, while the Cherry Avenue takes on its special seasonal character in spring. Anyone visiting Libotov at this time of year can combine the woodland landscape and mountain views with the avenue in bloom.

Cycle paths to Zvičina and quiet streets

Marked cycle paths lead from Libotov to Zvičina. Zvičina is the destination of these routes leading out of the village. In addition, the quiet streets in Libotov are also suitable for family excursions. The two options differ in their geographical focus: the cycle paths lead to Zvičina, while the quiet streets within Libotov provide the setting for a family outing. Those looking for a ride with a clear destination can head for Zvičina; those who prefer to stay in the village will find another kind of excursion in the quiet streets. The ride to Zvičina and the family outing on quiet streets are therefore two distinct ways to experience Libotov actively.

Chapel with protected grounds

The Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1778. It is therefore a historic building in Libotov. Both the chapel and its associated grounds are protected as a cultural monument. The protected area therefore includes the building and the land assigned to it. The chapel and grounds together form the protected historic site. The year of construction, 1778, also gives the chapel a clear historical connection within Libotov.

Playgrounds and family excursions

Libotov has two children’s playgrounds that are freely accessible to the public. The second children’s playground is located on the kindergarten premises and can be used outside the kindergarten’s operating hours. The quiet streets in Libotov are also suitable for shared family excursions. Families can visit one of the two playgrounds or take an excursion along the quiet streets within Libotov. Use of the second playground is additionally subject to the time restriction imposed by the kindergarten’s operating hours.

A documented event from local life

The 2024 Libotov Cup saw the 12th edition of a small-sided football tournament take place in Libotov. The event thus connects the village’s name with a specific sporting event from 2024 and an already twelfth tournament edition.
