Volanice combines a remarkable village history with individual traces of cultural heritage and a designated route through the village. If you are planning a trip to the Czech Republic and would like to get to know smaller, historically shaped places in addition to well-known sights, Volanice offers several points of interest: a Baroque château, a protected heritage ensemble, memorials in the villagescape and the Češov–Vysoké Veselí educational trail.

History surrounding the demesne farm

The first written mention of Volanice dates from 1325. At that time, Stojislav z Volanic lived there. Later, the Volanský family owned the demesne farm in Volanice until 1631. The name of the village itself also preserves this historical connection: the name Volanice and the Volanka stream recall the Volanský family. A particularly striking part of this history is the Baroque château. It was built around 1780 next to the farm, probably on the site of an earlier fortress, meaning a fortified residence. The château has survived to this day almost in its original form. At the same time, it is currently privately owned – an important point for orienting yourself in the village when you want to put Volanice’s historic buildings into context. The château’s architectural details include reused Baroque caryatids from the former Jesuit residence in Sběř. These are figurative supporting elements that give the building a special connection to older Baroque structures. The former Jesuit residence should be understood here as the historic place of origin.

Heritage ensemble and traces in the villagescape

The bell tower and the cross in Volanice together form a protected heritage ensemble. Thus, two closely connected elements are at the centre here: the bell tower as an independent part of the villagescape and the cross as part of the same protected ensemble. In addition, a memorial beside the cemetery commemorates those who fell in the First World War. There are also several log houses, which are among the other noticeable architectural elements in Volanice.

Educational trail, event and fishing grounds

On its return route from Vysoké Veselí to Češov, the Češov–Vysoké Veselí educational trail passes through Volanice. The village is therefore explicitly included in the course of this route. If you are planning your trip around a path or a regional discovery tour, this route information is the most important specific point of reference. There is another clearly dated connection with Putování po stezce: on 18 July 2026, Volanice was a checkpoint there. The Schpejchar was specified as the location. This date describes a past event and is not a statement about a future date. A special restriction applies to the Volanice fishing grounds: only local fishing permits are valid there. If fishing is part of your travel plans, you should take this distinction into account when preparing and should not equate the required permit with general permissions.

Choosing suitable accommodation in Volanice

When looking for a hotel in Volanice, you can therefore first decide which focus suits your trip: the history of the demesne farm and the château, the monuments in the villagescape, the educational trail or the fishing grounds with their local permit requirement. The available information presents Volanice above all as a historically shaped place with several clearly identifiable points of interest. The surroundings of Volanice include Sedliště, Bílsko U Hořic, Jinolice, Sekeřice, Dílce, Milovice U Hořic, Horní Nová Ves and Lazne Belohrad.
