Šárovcova Lhota combines the landscape along the Javorka River with marked trails, viewpoints and a remarkable range of historic memorial sites. Visitors with different interests will find plenty of inspiration here for a stay combining nature observation, hiking, regional history and special events.

Javorka, Viewpoints and Hiking Trails

The Javorka River flows through Šárovcova Lhota between Lázně Bělohrad and Ostroměř. Every year between the end of April and the beginning of May, the Sjezd Javorky takes place as a descent on the Javorka River. The event began in 2001 and has thus become a recurring seasonal highlight for anyone who wants to associate the town with a special river experience.

For exploring on foot, Hiking Route No. 11 from Šárovcova Lhota is a good option. It is 6 km long and initially leads through the forest along an unpaved path. The route is therefore unsuitable for cyclists. It also passes the Hladoměř plague cross from 1763, located at a pavilion on the road from Ostroměř. A green-marked hiking trail towards Ostroměř and Lázně Bělohrad also runs through Šárovcova Lhota.

A viewpoint in its own right is the bench called “Vyhlídka na Český ráj”. From there, the ruins of Trosky can be seen between the trees. The viewpoint thus complements the trails and river landscape with a clear visual connection to the surrounding area.

Historic Traces and Remarkable Buildings

Several sites in and around Šárovcova Lhota tell the story of different eras. The 1817 memorial stone from Mlázovice–Šárovcova Lhota has been protected as an immovable cultural monument since 15 August 2020. Another memorial stone from 1817, located on the road from Šárovcova Lhota to the settlement of Mezihoří, commemorates the establishment of a forest.

Alois Jirásek is also represented by several memorial sites. His monument was ceremonially unveiled on 17 July 1921. Below the settlement of Libín, there is also a bust of the writer, designed by Jan Štursa and carved in sandstone by Jan Kyselo. For visitors interested in culture, this creates not just a single point of interest but a thematic connection between the monument, bust and literary remembrance.

Among the distinctive buildings is Gregorův hostinec, a two-storey log house built around 1866 on a path in the lower part of the settlement. Hrádek covered an area of 170 × 140 metres and was fortified on its eastern side by a rampart and a moat. Its specific dimensions and fortifications also make the site interesting for visitors who prefer discovering historic places through their structure rather than through large buildings.

Brickworks Museum and Sporting Tradition

During the season, guided tours with expert commentary are held at the round Cihelna brickworks by prior arrangement. The exhibition includes copies of original drawings, wooden brick moulds, a steel turntable for brick wagons, wooden supports and a still-functioning wooden lifting mechanism. A visit thus combines the history of the building trade with specific equipment and work processes.

Another side of the town is represented by the Memoriál Václava Dobeše Šárovcova Lhota–Zvičina hill climb. It is part of the Czech Hill Climb Cup and originated more than 40 years ago on a whim and for fun. Together with the Sjezd Javorky, it forms a distinct contrast to the quieter trails, viewpoints and historic traces.
