Spa Tradition, Nature and Culture in Lazne Belohrad

Lazne Belohrad combines a long spa tradition with protected landscapes, short exploratory trails and distinctive cultural sites. Lázně Bělohrad specialises in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders as well as gynaecological, neurological, oncological and dermatological conditions. The history of the Bělohradské slatinné lázně also includes the therapeutic use of peat, a tradition that dates back to the 19th century.

Spa Park and Beech Forest

Bažantnice is a 51-hectare spa park. It is also home to the former Annamariánský pramen spring, now known as Pramen Vita. The Kamenná hůra nature reserve provides a different landscape setting: it protects a remnant of beech forest on mineral-poor ground formed by sandstone conglomerates.

The Naučná stezka Kamennou hůrou educational trail begins in the chateau park of Lázně Bělohrad and leads through Brtev to the entrance of the Kamenná hůra nature reserve. Along the route, the reserve contains a rare beech stand. The trail therefore leads from a landscaped park through the Brtev district into a landscape with a clearly preserved natural habitat.

Trails with Different Points of Focus

The Hopsík a tajemství starého Bělohradu route has seven stations and is approximately 3 kilometres long. The seven stations and approximately three kilometres provide a clear, though only approximate, framework for planning. The Hopsík route is accessible to pedestrians, pushchairs and bicycles along its entire length. If you are travelling with children or would like to combine different modes of transport, this explicitly accessible route offers a different option from the Kamennou hůrou trail, with its nature reserve and rare beech stand.

A fairytale walk with carved wooden figures and mythical creatures runs along the pond Pardoubek. In this way, a storytelling walk by the water complements the nature trails and spa park areas with an experience in which specific figures and mythical creatures accompany visitors along the route.

Cultural Sites with a History of Their Own

The Bělohradská sýpka was reconstructed in 2024 as a multifunctional space for cultural, educational and community events. The renovated Baroque building is open to visitors as a multifunctional cultural venue; the first floor contains a gallery space with old vaults. Concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, workshops and seminars are held at the Bělohradská sýpka.

The Fričovo muzeum was built in 1903–1904 as a model local museum, but it is currently not open to the public. The Památník Karla Václava Raise presents a permanent exhibition about the life and work of the writer and the history of Lázně Bělohrad; exhibitions are also held there occasionally. The Church of sv. Petra a Pavla in Byšičky is registered as an immovable cultural monument in the Czech heritage protection records.
