DOX Centre for contemporary art will present for the residents and visitors an exhibition of one of the most famous artists, famous British documentary photographer Martin Parr, - «Assorted Cocktail».
Martin Parr is one of the most successful and popular British photographers working in the field of photojournalism, fashion and commercial photography. Being a member of the world's most famous agency Magnum, Martin Parr has a special eye on the subject of shooting. Witty, sometimes provocative and incredibly rich in colors, having a particular artistic style, photos made Martin Parr one of the most respected contemporary artists that have had an enormous influence on photography.
Martin Parr, who became world-famous in 1980 for a series of photographs of middle-class life in Britain, during the past three decades has traveled around the world. He created unique pictures, not limited by one country, focusing on the problem of mass consumption, tourism and communications. Photos by Martin Parr are not just art objects, but the most important contemporary socio-critical documents.
A new exhibition of Martin Parr «Assorted Cocktail», which will be held in Prague, will introduce its visitors some of the most prominent thematic cycles created in the period from 1983 to 2009, such as “Last Resort”, “Small World”, “Bored couples”, “Common Sense” and others.
Exhibition «Assorted Cocktail» reflects almost thirty-year period of creative work of Martin Parr - great photojournalist, talented filmmaker, passionate collector, and simply brilliant multi-faceted personality. Among other things, at Prague's exhibition will be featured numerous objects and souvenirs that reflect social and political situation – kettle in the form of the head of the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher, watches with the face of Saddam Hussein and toilet paper with the elusive terrorist Osama bin Laden.
The exhibition will be held from February 17 to May 16 in DOX Prague's Centre for Contemporary Art.
