Visiting Lednice Chateau: rooms, palm house and park

Lednice Chateau in South Moravia is a single château with guided tours, a palm house and a freely accessible park. If you only want to see the interiors, you’ll need a different plan than if you’re also visiting the minaret and walking the garden paths. The larger Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape includes other sites and should not be confused with the chateau park.

Chateau rooms: choose the right tour

For a first visit, the state rooms on the ground floor are the obvious place to start. They feature elaborate wood panelling, richly decorated coffered ceilings and a carved spiral staircase. The guided tour takes 45 minutes. In October 2026, an adult ticket costs 300 KÄŤ; the private apartments on the upper floor are a separate tour, also lasting 45 minutes and at the same adult price. Tickets for individual routes do not provide admission to every area.

The private apartments are particularly worthwhile if, in addition to the chateau’s grand architecture, you’d like to see the rooms once used by the princely family. According to the current schedule, they are open on weekends and on 28 October; they are closed from November through the end of the year. For a short half-day visit, one interior tour is usually enough. Plan your tour time first and fit your walk around it, as start times depend on operations.

Palm house, park and minaret

The 92-metre-long palm house is a separate, self-guided attraction featuring tropical and subtropical plants. In October 2026, it is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm. From November through 13 December, weekend visiting hours are 10 am to 4 pm; it is also open from 10 am to 4 pm on 17 November. Adult admission is 140 KÄŤ. No reservation is needed for the palm house.

The chateau park is not a paid tour but a separate stop: according to the municipality, it is open daily year-round and admission is free. Its landscape features ponds and small islands, vistas and romantic buildings; bicycles may not be ridden in the park and must be walked. The minaret stands on the park’s main axis. According to the 2026 seasonal schedule, it is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm through 1 November inclusive; the winter closure begins afterwards. Adult admission to the minaret is 100 Kč. If you visit the state rooms, palm house and minaret, the three adult tickets come to 540 Kč, not including any other separate visits or a second chateau tour.

As a rough guide, half a day is enough for one interior tour, the palm house and a shorter walk in the park. Add the minaret and a longer walk through the park, and you have a full day out. Getting there and parking

If you’re travelling without a car, Břeclav bus station is a convenient transfer point. For 12–18 October 2026, IDS JMK has published a diversion timetable for regional bus route 570 due to roadworks in Mikulov. It lists separate weekday and weekend/public holiday services and shows the connection from Břeclav, aut.nádr. to the Lednice, náměstí (village square) stop. Choose a departure that suits your specific travel date. Brno is a good base in a larger city if you want to combine your chateau visit with a day in the city; Brno as a city break destination can help you decide.

If you’re travelling by car, the central A/B car park on 21. dubna Street is about 250 metres from the chateau, a short walk away. In October 2026, it costs 35 Kč per hour, up to a maximum of 100 Kč per day. Car park C is about 500 metres away and costs 90 Kč per day, often making it the cheaper option for a longer visit. The closer Zámecké náměstí car park is around 140 metres from the chateau, but costs 40 Kč per hour, up to a maximum of 300 Kč per day. The municipality prohibits parking outside designated car parks.

Lednice Chateau and the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape

The chateau is a single visitor attraction; the Lednice-Valtice UNESCO World Heritage Site, by contrast, refers to a larger cultural landscape with several chateau and park areas. So don’t automatically treat Valtice as a quick add-on to your tour in Lednice: it is a separate place with its own visiting itinerary. If Lednice is your main focus, choose accommodation in the region rather than trying to fit in as many stops as possible in one day. For a regional overview, see the guide to accommodation in South Moravia.

How much time should I allow for Lednice Chateau?

Half a day is a good guideline for a tour of the state rooms and a visit to the palm house. If you’d also like to explore the park at a leisurely pace or visit the minaret, it’s better to allow a full day; the chateau tour itself takes 45 minutes.

Do I need to book tickets in advance?

Individual visitors are not generally required to book ahead; tickets are available online and at the ticket office, subject to availability. Online sales end two hours before the tour starts. Groups of more than 15 people must book at least 24 hours in advance.

Can I explore the park by bicycle?

No. The municipality does not allow bicycles to be ridden in the chateau park; you may only walk them. Plan to explore the paths on foot and don’t use your bicycle as a shortcut through the grounds.
