Trebenice combines the landscape on the right bank of the Dalešice Reservoir with cycling routes, viewpoints, rare plants and the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius. If you would like to consider nature, a clearly documented cycling route and local traditions together when planning your trip, you will find various starting points here. Trebenice lies southeast of Třebíč on the Třebíč–Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant route, approximately 11 km from Třebíč.

Hiking and cycling at the Dalešice Reservoir

The main recreational activities recommended in Třebenice are hiking and cycling through the landscape on the right bank of the Dalešice Reservoir. Maintained paths and cycling routes run along the entire right bank. Elevated viewpoints offer views across the reservoir. The Dalešice Reservoir is also designated as the JIHLAVA 7-8 fishing area.

A cycling route with several stage locations

The 51 km cycling route „Around the Dalešice Reservoir“ runs through Třebenice, Plešice and Chroustov. From Třebenice, it continues via Plešice and Chroustov along road III/35122 to Stropešín. On this route, you can reach Třebenice from the Žleb signpost via an unmarked path. At 51 kilometres, the route serves as a reference for planning a longer cycling tour connecting several stage locations one after another.

Rare plants in the surrounding area

A small forest clearing near the village is home to three endangered plant species: sněženka předjarní, as well as the critically endangered species šafrán karpatský and ladoňka dvoulistá. The cadastral area of Třebenice contains other botanically interesting places with rare plant species, including brambořík nachový, lilie zlatohlávek and lomikámen cibulkatý.

Chapel, history and local festivities

The small Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Třebenice is a Baroque-Classical building from the 18th century. Inside, there are paintings with a Cyrillo-Methodian theme and a sculptural group of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The chapel also includes a room set into the ground with a well. Historically, Třebenice belonged to Holoubek Castle. After the castle fell into disrepair after 1440, Třebenice became part of the Valeč estate.

The local annual calendar adds several traditions to the landscape and cultural themes. Every year on 5 July, the Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage takes place together with the „zaváděním po vsi“; it is preceded by a Mass in the village square near the chapel. In January, the local Myslivecké sdružení organizes the traditional Myslivecký ples. On the Saturday closest to Children's Day on 1 June, the Svaz žen organizes Dětský den with spit-roasted suckling pig and competitions for children.
