Pilgrimage Site of Dobrá Voda
The settlement of Dobrá Voda belongs to the municipality of Mladoňovice and lies 1 km south of the main village. It has been a pilgrimage site since the 18th century. Its religious history includes the so-called Water Chapel, which was built in the mid-18th century, probably between 1725 and 1745, and has been a listed monument since 1958.
Its name refers to the spring beneath the niche: water emerges from a pipe in the paneled wall and flows away through a channel in the floor. Above the chapel with the spring, the pilgrimage chapel of the Name of the Virgin Mary stands on a hill. A staircase connects the two structures. This makes it possible to understand the local pilgrimage not only through its history but also through the spatial connection between the chapels.
Pilgrimage on a Fixed Date
If you would like to visit Dobrá Voda specifically in connection with the pilgrimage, the traditional date provides clear guidance. The pilgrimage takes place on the Sunday after the Feast of the Name of Mary. The Roman Catholic Church celebrates this feast on September 12. For planning your trip, this means that not a general period but a specific calendar rule is decisive: the relevant day is the Sunday following September 12.
Local History, Exhibition, and Visible Traces
In addition to the pilgrimage site, Mladoňovice offers points of interest for visitors interested in history. The exhibition about Petr Mladoň is housed in a former poorhouse next to the municipal office. Its collections cover the history of the municipality, display archaeological finds from the surrounding area, and include further historical records about Mladoňovice. Its namesake was born in Mladoňovice in 1390 and was elected rector of the university in 1439. The exhibition thus combines a local biography with the history of the place.
Historical traces can also be found outside the exhibition. Remains of a medieval fortress have been preserved in Mladoňovice. The Chapel of Saint Florian, with a large stone cross, is also considered a landmark of the village. Those who choose accommodation in Mladoňovice can therefore shape their stay in different ways: the focus may be on the pilgrimage history of Dobrá Voda, as well as on local history with its exhibition, fortress remains, and chapel.
Fishpond and Orientation on Site
As another local point of reference, the Asuán fishpond complements the picture of Mladoňovice. It covers 6,000 m² and offers opportunities for local recreation. Alongside the chapels and historical subjects, this provides water-related impressions as another option, without limiting the place to just one type of visit.
Dobrá Voda is particularly important for understanding the local geography: Road II/408 from Jemnice to Znojmo passes through the settlement. When looking for suitable accommodation, you should therefore consider whether you want to include Mladoňovice as the main village or Dobrá Voda as the associated settlement to its south in your travel plans. This allows the pilgrimage site, local history, and fishpond to be considered with the desired emphasis, without confusing the two parts of the municipality.
