Hartvíkovice is a worthwhile destination for anyone who wants to combine waterscapes, activity and cultural discoveries in one trip. The defining feature is Dalešická Dam: the reservoir is considered the deepest reservoir in the Czech Republic and offers various opportunities for active days by the water. At the same time, roads and paths from Hartvíkovice lead to notable viewpoints and a historic ruin site. From the open surface of the reservoir, the landscape extends to wooded slopes and a distinctive rock formation.

Wilsonova skála: Views, Rock and History

One particularly versatile place to visit is Wilsonova skála. The rock is located in the immediate vicinity of Wilsonka Auto Camp in the cadastral area of the municipality of Hartvíkovice. From there, there are views of the surface of Dalešická Dam and the wooded slopes of the surrounding area. The rock formation creates a solid foreground, while the water opens up the view into the distance and the slopes define the background. The wooden heart at Wilsonova skála is also a viewpoint overlooking the reservoir and the surrounding landscape. The combination of rock, water and wooded slopes gives the viewpoint a clearly structured landscape character.

Wilsonova skála also combines natural and cultural history. The ruins of Kokštejn Castle are located on the rock formation known as Wilsonova skála. A newer road from Hartvíkovice leads to the ruins of Kokštejn Castle. A yellow-marked hiking trail also leads from Hartvíkovice to the rock formation. The road and the hiking trail lead to different destinations: the ruins and the rock formation, respectively. The rock formation is also a popular place for climbers and hitchhikers. Thus, views, ruins, climbing and hitchhiking all come together at Wilsonova skála.

Water Activities and Trails at Dalešická Dam

Swimming, fishing, surfing and boating are possible at Dalešická Dam. By boat, the surrounding landscape can be viewed from the water. This means that the view is not limited to the shores and rock formations, but also includes the water surface itself.

There are numerous routes for hiking and cycling at Dalešická Dam. This makes it possible to experience the landscape around the reservoir both from the water and along trails on foot or by bicycle. A cycling tour and a hike make use of the landscape around the reservoir, while boating shifts the perspective to the water surface. Water activities and land routes therefore offer a choice between spending time on the lake and moving along trails.
