Číchov between the river valley, forests and marked trails

Číchov is an interesting starting point for anyone planning a trip through landscapes with river courses, rock formations and signposted trails. The Jihlava Valley near Číchov is particularly distinctive: hiking routes and long-distance cycling connections run through a landscape with river bends, striking rocks and surrounding forests. Views of the river alternate with stretches where the rock formations accompany the trail. When choosing accommodation in Číchov, this provides clear orientation between hiking days, nature experiences and cycling tours.

Hikes with a clearly defined starting point

The 15-kilometre hike “Vlakem a pěšky do divočiny Třebíč–Číchov” begins at Číchov railway station. The station is easily accessible from the town centre. A red-marked long-distance hiking trail also passes through Číchov along the Jihlava Valley from Třebíč towards Jihlava. The town therefore offers both a specifically measured hike and a marked long-distance trail running through the valley landscape.

The Jihlava Valley and Jalovec Nature Monument

The trail through the Jihlava Valley near Číchov passes striking rock formations and river bends and offers views of the river and the surrounding forests. For visitors who are not looking for just a single destination on a tour, this creates changing landscapes: rocks, water and forest appear in different combinations along the trail. The valley section thus combines distinctive landforms with open views of the surroundings.

Jalovec Nature Monument protects common juniper (Juniperus communis L.) and preserves remnants of natural submontane pastures. A ski slope also runs through the nature monument and is frequently used in winter. Jalovec thus brings together protected plant life and explicitly seasonal use, without reducing the character of the nature monument to a single viewpoint.

Cycling tours and historical traces

Číchov also has several cycling connections. After passing under the railway bridge in Číchov, cycle route 5111 heads towards Brtnice. The long-distance cycle route 28 and a cycling educational trail also run through the Jihlava Valley near Číchov. In addition to hiking, there are therefore several signposted options, leading either towards Brtnice or through the valley landscape.

Another hike leads from Číchov to Bransouze and passes the ruins of Střelište Castle. Only ditches and ramparts remain of the castle. The former complex therefore does not appear as a fully preserved building, but in the forms that have remained in the landscape. It is precisely this tangible form of what has been preserved that makes the site a historical trace in the landscape rather than a fully preserved castle complex. For shared discoveries along the way, this section complements the nature and trail experiences with a visible testimony to past development.

More places for planning your trip

If you would like to compare Číchov with other destinations, you can also include Studnice, Lesní Jakubov, Přešovice, Valeč, Slavětice, Blatnica, Dešov and Chotěbudice in your search. This keeps the choice open, while Číchov is characterised above all by the combination of the Jihlava Valley, marked hiking trails, cycle routes and Jalovec.
