Bačice between the village green and living traditions

Bačice reveals its special character above all where the townscape, culture and traditional customs come together. The centre consists of two interconnected areas. One of them is a village green shaped by a chapel, around which original farmhouses are arranged in a circle. The combination of the chapel, village green and ring of houses shapes the spatial impression of the town centre. For you, this means that the history of the village is visible not only in individual buildings, but also in a clearly recognisable rural structure.

The bell tower of Bačice stands on this village green and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. It is therefore one of the village’s established cultural points of reference. Another listed cultural monument is the cross behind Udeřice. Those who seek not only landscapes during their stay, but also established townscapes and smaller reminders of regional history, will find several different points of interest in Bačice.

Festivals, processions and a lively village year

The Bačická pouť includes the traditional “zavádění” procession through the village, accompanied by the DUBŇANKA brass band. The procession combines the rural surroundings with music and communal traditions. This makes the pouť a special way to experience Bačice not only as a quiet village centre, but also as a setting for living traditions.

Bačice–Udeřice also hosts the traditional “Pálení čarodějnic”, or burning of the witches. A Špekáček is provided for children to roast. This specific element gives the tradition an easily understandable shared activity without losing its traditional character.

A procession with Smrtolka through the village was planned in Bačice for 22 March 2026 to welcome spring. From 3 to 12 April 2026, a “Velikonoční stezka”, or Easter trail, took place in Bačice. The activity “Pletení žil”, or willow-switch weaving, was also planned for 5 April 2026. These three examples show different forms of local tradition: a seasonal procession, an Easter trail and a craft-oriented activity.

Natural areas in the surrounding area

There are attractive natural areas with opportunities for fishing in the vicinity of Bačice. The landscape around the village therefore complements the centre’s cultural and historical impressions with a quieter way to experience the surroundings. If you would like to combine village traditions and experiences in nature during your trip, you can discover Bačice from two different perspectives: through the village green and cultural monuments, or through the nearby natural areas and their opportunities for fishing.
