The short, marked route “Městskou branou k hrobu Jaroslava Haška” leads from the square in Lipnice past the ruins of the town gate, the ruins of Bílá věž, the Chapel of St. Anthony and the old cemetery with the grave of the writer Jaroslav Hašek. Over a short distance, the route makes several historical and literary points of reference accessible and gives the walk a clear thematic framework.

Granite Quarries and Art

In the vicinity of Lipnice nad Sázavou, there are old, water-filled granite quarries featuring sculptures. Bretschneiderovo ucho is part of the Národní památník odposlechu in these old quarries near Lipnice. A clearly marked route connects the artworks of the Národní památník odposlechu. In addition, the route “Okolo zatopených lomů k Hlavě XXII.” is marked from the square in Lipnice; an orientation map is also located there.

A Longer Educational Trail to Lipnice

The Haškova cesta educational trail is approximately 12 km long, runs from Světlá nad Sázavou to Lipnice nad Sázavou and has seven stops. It retraces the journey of Jaroslav Hašek and the painter Jaroslav Panuška during their joint trip from Světlá nad Sázavou to Lipnice nad Sázavou in 1921. It thus complements the short route in the town with a longer, biographically narrated trail.

Festivals and Craftsmanship in Front of the Castle

Haškova Lipnice has been held since 1959 in the open-air amphitheatre below the castle. At the Folková Lipnice festival, which was officially called “Písní za mír” at the time, the playwright and dissident Václav Havel gave his first public address in more than 19 years on September 3, 1988, in the amphitheatre below the castle. The Jaroslav Hašek Memorial is a small exhibition in the writer’s house about his life and work. At the “Kování na Lipnici 26” event, visitors can watch stonemasons and stone sculptors at work in front of the castle.
