Church and historical traces

A central landmark in Jeřišno is the church “Kostel sv. Václava”. It stands on a hill in the center of the village, on a former cemetery surrounded by a stone wall. The church has been documented since 1350. Its core is Gothic; it was later extended and remodeled in the Baroque style. This sequence in particular makes the building an illustrative example of how a sacred structure changed over several periods. The older settlement history also reaches far back. The settlement known as “Ves Zerussna” was first mentioned in 1406 in connection with Vilémov Monastery and Přibík ze Sázavy; at that time, its location was placed somewhere above Heřmaň. The historic Liběcká obchodní stezka also ran through Jeřišno. Those interested in local history will therefore find not only individual buildings here, but also indications of earlier transport and settlement connections. In Heřmaň, the vicarage is currently used as a gallery. There is also a preserved memorial to the victims of the First World War. The former school building dates from the 18th century, is considered the oldest school building in the Havlíčkův Brod District, and is currently used as living accommodation. Above Heřmaň, the outline of the foundations of a former wooden fortress can be discerned on a hill. These various historical traces emphasize different aspects: sacred architecture, commemorative culture, the history of education, and the remains of an earlier fortification.

The local events listed in the municipal directory include the Jeřišský Gulášfest on September 23, 2024, and August 24, 2026, as well as “Vepřové hody” on January 21, 2025, and January 20, 2026. The public skating event “Jeřišské veřejné bruslení” took place on December 4, 2024, and December 10, 2025. These dated examples illustrate different sides of village life: culinary events and a shared sporting activity.
