Vír combines impressive rock formations, water, an unusual craft history, and clearly distinct outdoor experiences. This makes it suitable for a stay where you do not simply visit a single attraction, but can choose between secured routes, viewpoints, cycling routes, ice-climbing training, and small cultural discoveries. When looking for accommodation in Vír, it is therefore particularly interesting to consider which experience should be the focus of your trip.

Between Via Ferrata, Rock and Reservoir

The Vír via ferratas run above the Svratka and the Vír Reservoir. Steel cables secure the routes; beginners can manage them as well. This makes the via ferrata a clearly defined way to experience the rocky landscape actively, without having the character of an ordinary walking path.

Uhelna offers another, significantly shorter and more concentrated challenge: it is possible to jump from a platform installed at a height of 26 m. Those who prefer to stay on the ground and combine a route with several landscape impressions will find another option in the Vírská naučná stezka. It leads from Továrna to the dam; it also includes a branch to the Klubačice rock viewpoint.

Views and Routes for Different Days

On the Klubačice rock rising above the Svratka, there is a narrow viewing platform secured with a railing at a height of just under 100 m. Together with the branch from the educational trail route, this provides a specific viewpoint to include in your day plan. The platform should not be confused with a general elevation figure: the just under 100 m refers to its height on the rock.

There are also two different route profiles to choose from when cycling in Vír. The Gravel Tour Vír is an easy 34-km route on gravel roads. The E-Bike Route Vír 8 is a moderately difficult wilderness trail. Those looking for a manageable gravel route can therefore plan differently from someone who prefers a more demanding trail on an e-bike.

Ice, Water and a Piece of Local History

Ledová stěna Vír is an artificially created icefall. It is recognized as a training area of the ČHS and is used for ice-climbing training. In this respect, it belongs to a different travel profile than the via ferratas or cycling routes: this is not an ordinary winter landscape, but an area explicitly created for training.

A smaller discovery awaits you at Bystřice Creek. Vírský mlýnek is a water-powered mechanism with moving figures near the creek in Vír. In addition, the municipality of Vír commissioned a replica of the Navrátil mill mechanism in 2007. Both references make the local milling tradition visible in different ways, without turning it into a large museum.

Practical Orientation for Your Stay

For via ferrata planning, the Krabička climbing hut on the right bank of the Svratka is a specific point of contact: reserved via ferrata equipment can be collected there. Parking is available directly on the Továrna premises. These two details help you fit the desired activities and the starting point of the educational trail into your own day plan.

The verified local facts offer a specific point of connection for each of these directions without limiting the area to just one type of holiday.

Further destinations that you can visit for your travel planning include Nové Mesto Na Morave, Černá, Jámy, Spělkov, Lavičky, Moravecké Pavlovice, Velké Tresné and Vidonín.
