Discover Věžná: Hiking Trails, Valley and Night Skiing
Accommodation in Věžná
Věžná brings together various travel experiences within a small area: the SK Věžná ski lift is illuminated for night skiing, while several marked trails lead through the village and its surroundings. There is also a valley with a distinct landscape character, views of Bor and the historic Church of Saint Martin. If different preferences come together in your travel group, the area can therefore be explored from several perspectives.
Hiking Trails with Different Starting Points
A blue-marked hiking trail leads uphill from Věžná railway station towards Střítež. Above Věžná, a yellow-marked hiking trail also passes a wayside cross. Both trails reveal different sides of the landscape: the blue trail connects the railway station with the ascent towards Střítež, while the yellow trail leads to a higher location above the village.
Those wishing to explore a longer route through several villages can take the route “Věžná železniční zastávka – Věžná – Smrček – Pernštejn – Nedvědice”. It runs from Věžná railway station via Věžná, Smrček and Pernštejn to Nedvědice. In this order, the route connects Věžná railway station with Věžná, Smrček, Pernštejn and Nedvědice. The Věžná tourist signpost is located in the village square at an intersection of the main roads and serves as another fixed point of orientation there.
Valley Views and Landscape Along the Nedvědička
Věžná lies in the valley of a stream that flows into the Nedvědička River from the left. This setting shapes the character of the village more strongly than a mere place name: trails lead uphill or run above Věžná, while the water makes the valley’s geographical connections visible. The yellow-marked hiking trail from Věžná offers a view of Bor across the Nedvědička valley. The view is therefore a specific highlight for anyone who wants, while walking, to notice not only the trail itself but also the relationship between the village, the valley and the landscape on the opposite side.
Church of Saint Martin
The Church of Saint Martin is part of Věžná’s cultural heritage. It was built of stone on a hillside above Věžná in the 16th century and houses a life-size depiction of the crucified Christ. The church is designated as a cultural monument. Restoration work included a contribution of CZK 69,000 in 2015. The building thus complements the natural experiences with a historical connection directly associated with the village.
Putting Past Hiking Events into Context
Organized tourist hikes in Věžná and the surrounding area have also been documented. The sixth edition of the tourist hike “Po modré do Habří” was scheduled for Sunday, 27 October 2024. In 2022, the hiking event “Za krásami okolí Nedvědice” was held for the 49th time. Both details refer to past dates and are therefore not a current events calendar.
