Discover Vecov: Nature Trails, Peaks and History

Vecov combines nature experiences with tangible traces of regional history. This character is particularly evident along two nature trails and at historic sites in Věcov. The Metodka nature trail brings together physical activity, landscape and contemporary history; the Modráskova naučná stezka focuses on natural history and the surroundings of Jimramovské Pavlovice. This allows you to discover different sides of the destination. The contrast ranges from an approximately one-hour nature walk to a longer route leading to a summit and viewpoint. You can therefore choose according to walking time and your interest in the landscape, wildlife or local history.

Metodka Nature Trail: Exercise and Contemporary History

The Metodka nature trail is 3.5 km long and has 15 stations. It is suitable for hikers, cyclists and families with strollers. Along the way, visitors learn about local partisan activities during the Second World War. The route thus combines a clearly structured trail with a historical focus. A yellow-marked hiking route also leads from the Metodka nature trail to the summit of Metodka. The 15 stations divide the trail into several thematic stops; the yellow-marked path to the summit forms a subsequent section.

The Summit of Metodka

The summit of Metodka lies at an altitude of 788 metres. In good weather, the Orlické Mountains, Králický Sněžník and Praděd can be seen from there. The summit is therefore the destination of the yellow-marked route and complements the nature trail with a specific landscape focus.

Modráskova naučná stezka in Jimramovské Pavlovice

The Modráskova naučná stezka offers a different trail length: it is 1.5 km long and takes about one hour. The approximate duration is intended as a guide. The trail is located in Jimramovské Pavlovice in the municipality of Věcov. Information panels focus on the rare large blue butterfly, as well as the trees and birds of the region. The paved field path is suitable for strollers. Compared with Metodka, you can choose between 1.5 km and 3.5 km here while also selecting a different thematic focus. The short distance and paved field path help with planning a compact nature excursion.

Memorial Sites and the Old Korábský mlýn Mill

The history of the village includes a memorial stone set into the masonry. It commemorates the murder of Václav Rychnovský in 1621 at the Rychtě in Věcov. The old Korábský mlýn mill in Věcov also offers a historical perspective: its first documented mention dates from 1583. The mill was last in operation shortly after the Second World War; today it serves as a farm for keeping horses and bees. The two examples connect the memory of an event with a historic site that is now used differently.
