Radostín combines an extraordinary moorland landscape with a nature trail, a cross-country skiing loop and a local tradition centered around the Chapel of Saint Rosalia. The character of the place is shaped above all by the Radostín peat bog and the Dářko National Nature Reserve. Those looking for accommodation in Radostín can therefore focus their stay on nature experiences, an informative path through the landscape, cross-country skiing or a combination of these themes.

Discovering the Radostín peat bog

The Radostín peat bog is a transitional bog of the watershed bog type, with characteristic plant and animal communities.

The peat bog is home to plant communities featuring Scots pines and their hybrids with the rare bog pine, which is characteristic of the area. The plant species bog rosemary also continues to grow in the Radostín peat bog.

More than 500 species of butterflies have been recorded in the Radostín peat bog. The Dářko National Nature Reserve is also home to the last natural population of bog pine in this area. The deepest peat bog in the area is located there as well.

Nature trail with boardwalk and viewpoints

The Dářská rašeliniště nature trail has twelve information stations. Part of the route runs along a wooden boardwalk, giving the trail its own way of accessing the moorland landscape. Two viewpoints are also part of the nature trail. In this way, the route combines information, views of the landscape and designated points from which to look out over the area.

The Radostín peat bog can be reached via a green-marked trail through a birch avenue.

Cross-country skiing on the Radostínský loop

The Radostínský loop is available for cross-country skiing. The ski track is 11.2 kilometers long and begins and ends in Radostín. The route runs from Radostín via Padrtiny along Velké Dářko pond, through the Dářko National Nature Reserve and back to Radostín from Karlov.

The route follows forest paths, meadows and fields. The Radostínský loop is marked with a local purple horizontal color stripe. This gives visitors another way to experience the same landscape: while the nature trail explains the special features of the peat bog at twelve stations, the loop describes a longer route through different types of landscape, with its start and finish in the village.

Chapel and the Rosalia tradition

Radostín is also home to the modern Chapel of Saint Rosalia, dating from 2006. Another local feature is the procession in honor of Saint Rosalia. It was revived in Radostín in 1990 and is scheduled for the first Sunday in September. This adds a religious and locally rooted theme to the nature and sporting experiences around the village.
