Písečné lies in a valley where numerous springs form a stream that flows into the Vír Reservoir. Marked hiking trails pass through the village, while a green-marked route bears the name “Bystřickem za vůní kávy”. It leads to Písečné and then continues to Mount Kříb. This brings together specific landscape experiences, a marked hiking route and an unusual motorsport history in and around the village.

Hiking between the valley, springs and Kříb

Those wishing to explore Písečné on foot will find marked hiking trails in the village. The “Bystřickem za vůní kávy” route offers a distinctive way to get your bearings: its green markings lead first to Písečné and then continue to Mount Kříb. The route thus connects the village with Mount Kříb through the surrounding landscape, without limiting you to simply sightseeing in the village. The valley itself is shaped by numerous springs. They form a stream that flows into the Vír Reservoir – a geographical connection that gives Písečné a clearly distinctive landscape character.

A long motocross history

Motocross races are regularly held at the Písečská Zmole venue. The history of the track dates back to the second half of the 20th century: its construction began in 1959, with Miroslav Hakl leading the work that year. The first race of the regional motocross championship at Písečská Zmole took place in 1962. Later, races in the Motocross World Championship were also held there. This sequence of events makes Písečská Zmole an independent historical topic for anyone who wants to learn not only about the landscape and hiking during their stay, but also about the development of motorsport. The regular races are part of the documented present-day life of this place.

Traces in the village and a traditional story

Even smaller details give Písečné its distinctive character. An iron cross dating from 1863 stands in the village square. It is a specific historical landmark in the heart of the village and can be included in a walk through Písečné. Another local feature is the Na Bojisku pond. A local legend is associated with it: according to tradition, the pond was said to have been full of blood after a battle during the Swedish Wars. The wording explicitly belongs to the realm of legend and makes the pond a place where the landscape and regional storytelling tradition meet.

Forests in the surrounding area

The Pletenice and Holotín forests lie nearby. In summer, mushroom pickers visit them because of the abundance of forest produce. For travel planning, this opens up another perspective on the area around Písečné: alongside marked trails and historical topics, there is a seasonal connection to the forests and their produce. The village can thus also be understood through its immediate landscape and its traditional forms of use.
