Pikárec
Accommodation in Pikárec
Pikárec is situated in the flat, gently hilly landscape of the Křižanovská vrchovina. The village combines nature observation, cycling, family outings and vibrant traditions with notable cultural connections. The landscape, vegetation, family event, local history and customs each represent different aspects of the village.
Landscape and Special Places
A prominent cultural landmark is the Chapel of St. Procopius. In Pikárec, it is regarded as an important urban landmark and an architecturally significant building. Kuchyň Pond lies southeast of Pikárec and is known for its interesting vegetation. Together with the flat, gently hilly landscape of the Křižanovská vrchovina, this offers two different views of nature: the expansive landscape of the highlands and a single pond that stands out because of its vegetation. The chapel represents the village’s built heritage, while Kuchyň marks a natural site with vegetation of its own. The Pod skalou natural area is also part of the local orientation. It has a stage and secured gastronomic services. The stage adds a venue for events to the natural area; the gastronomic services complement it with on-site refreshments. The place thus combines nature, events and catering without being limited to a single use.Cycling and Walks with Children
Those wishing to explore Pikárec by bicycle can consider the “Through the Nature of the Křižanovsko Region” cycling tour. It follows cycle path CT 5243 through Pikárec. The village is therefore connected to a specific cycling route, while the “Pohádkový les” offers a different kind of outing: it is a traditional walking and family event in Pikárec with seven fairy-tale stations. Children receive a reward at each station. After the walk through the “Pohádkový les,” refreshments are available at the Pod Křibem excursion site. The Pod Křibem excursion site thus complements the family event with a local gastronomic offering.Traditions and Personalities
Pikárec is also regarded as the birthplace of geologist Alois Myslivec (1898–1994). His professional career extended beyond the village: in 1946, he qualified as a docent at the Czech Technical University in Prague in the fields of soil mechanics and foundation engineering and became the country’s first professor in this new field. The local history is thus connected with an academic career at the Czech Technical University in Prague. In Pikárec, Ostatky is a traditional masked procession through the village, followed by an evening celebration for local residents at which traditional customs are maintained. During the Ostatky masked procession on March 1, 2025, drinks and small samples were available at houses throughout the municipality.
