Lhotka between a Protected Area and Local History

Lhotka is located in the Žďárské vrchy landscape. The character of the village is shaped by nature, history, and various opportunities for active days. If you would like to combine different interests when planning your trip, you will find opportunities here for observing nature, exploring local history, cycling, and sports.

Natural Area around Lhotka

Díly u Lhotky was first designated a natural monument on July 25, 1985. The protected area preserves significant meadow communities and meandering waterways with protected plant and animal species. In addition, Díly u Lhotky is a natural monument with peat meadows and endangered plant and animal species; it is located approximately 1.5 km southeast of Lhotka. Its approximate location is therefore a specific point of reference when you want to understand the geographical position of the village and its surroundings.

The main European watershed runs approximately 1 km northeast of Lhotka. Together with its location in the Žďárské vrchy, this creates a landscape that can be understood not only through individual sights but also through prominent geographical features.

History and Local Particularities

Lhotka was founded in 1407 through the colonization activities of the Cistercian monastery in Žďár. Historically, the inhabitants worked as charcoal burners and produced charcoal in charcoal piles. At the same time, Lhotka was an important economic center and had a widely known mill.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

For active exploration, the “Žďárskými vrchy – 49 km” mountain biking route leads through the forest to Lhotka, where it connects to the EV4 EuroVelo route. The Cyrilometodějská Trail climbs through Lhotka to Harusův kopec. This places two differently oriented routes at the center: a mountain biking route named as being 49 km long, with a connection to EV4, and an ascending route through the village to Harusův kopec. For trip planning, this provides two different forms of movement: a mountain bike ride through the forest and an ascending route through Lhotka.

The Radňovický Circuit is also connected to routes in the direction of Lhotka and to the cross-country ski trails in the area around Žďár nad Sázavou. For your planning, you can therefore distinguish between a mountain biking route, an ascending route, and further connections in the regional trail network without combining the offerings into a single route.

Sports Facilities in the Village

The local facilities include the Sportovní hřiště in Lhotka. Visitors from outside the village can use it for a fee for tennis, nohejbal, football, and volleyball. This complements the nature and cultural themes with a specific sporting opportunity directly in Lhotka. The offering ranges from tennis and nohejbal to football and volleyball; the Sportovní hřiště therefore accommodates both racket sports and team sports.

Other Places for Planning Your Trip

If you would like to compare Lhotka with other destinations, you can also find Světnov, Lisna, Ořechov, Bohdalov, Lavičky, Moravec, Horní Radslavice, and Dalečín here.
