Jimramov – History between the Fryšávka and Svratka
Accommodation in Jimramov
Jimramov between the Fryšávka and Svratka
Jimramov lies at the confluence of the Fryšávka and Svratka rivers in the Hornosvratecká vrchovina, on the eastern edge of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The town therefore combines a distinctive riverside setting with a landscape where cultural history and the surrounding mountains complement one another. This creates a destination that can be explored through local history, exhibitions and regional nature.
Historic town centre with a walking route
The historic town centre has been a designated urban heritage zone since 1990. A walking route with 11 stops is marked directly on the building façades, giving the exploration a clear structure. The heritage zone is centred around a long, narrow, funnel-shaped square. The square is predominantly lined with houses featuring 19th-century Historicist façades. This makes it possible to follow the development of the townscape within a single cohesive urban space.
Church, organ and chateau
Jimramov Evangelical Church preserves a nave built between 1784 and 1786 with early Classicist elements. The Empire-style tower was added between 1883 and 1884. The building’s musical character is enhanced by its high-quality organ, which is used during services and concerts. Jimramov Chateau is a Renaissance building that was remodelled in the Classical style in the 18th century. In 1746, Marie Antonie z Waldorfu had the north wing of the chateau and a covered passage to the oratory of the Catholic church built.
Exhibitions on regional history
Síň rodáků, also known as Síň Rodáků jimramovska, is dedicated to the life and work of Jan Karafiát. Other sections present life in the Vysočina region, including a nativity scene by the local woodcarver Pivoňka, as well as an exhibition about notable people born in Jimramov. The collection thus complements the walk through the town centre with biographical and regional themes.
Bludník Park and the surrounding mountains
Bludník Park is a former English landscape park dating from around 1800. Trees from the original arboretum have been preserved. Since 1990, the Otevřeno Festival has been held in the park. The mountains of Librův Kopec, Na jedli and Kočíko lie in the vicinity of Jimramov. Drašarov belongs to the wider regional surroundings of Jimramov. These varied landscape connections extend the historic town centre with destinations in the nearby and wider area.
Accommodation to suit your preferred mix
When looking for accommodation in Jimramov, you can therefore first decide whether you want your days to focus mainly on the heritage zone, church, chateau and exhibitions, or whether you would also like to include the surrounding landscape and mountains. The verified sights offer several clearly distinguishable themes, without requiring you to reduce the character of the town to just one attraction.
