Bystřice nad Pernštejnem
Accommodation in Bystřice Nad Pernštejnem
Bystřice nad Pernštejnem combines historical traces with vivid experiences: at the market square, the museum tells the story of the past. The Church of St. Lawrence, whose origins date back to the 13th century, offers another way to explore the town’s history, while models, animals, sports and regional festivals provide very different ways to experience the town. This makes it possible to put together a programme for your stay that combines culture and shared activities.
Culture between the Market Square and Church History
An important starting point for exploring the town’s history is the Bystřice nad Pernštejnem City Museum. Since 1960, it has been located on the market square in the building of the former town hall, a former burgher’s house and a former brewery. The museum itself is therefore already connected with several historic buildings. The exhibition also includes “Uranium in the Vysočina Region – Mining in the Bystřice Area”. This broadens the view of the town with a topic from the region’s economic and industrial history.
The Church of St. Lawrence takes you even further back in time. Its origins date back to the 13th century. The originally Romanesque building was later remodelled in the Gothic style and acquired its present Baroque appearance during a reconstruction towards the end of the 17th century. The interior contains Baroque and Rococo wood-carved decorations, altars and a pulpit. Thus, several construction and furnishing phases meet in a single sacred building, and they can be distinguished from one another when viewed closely.
Models, Historic Architectural Forms and Animals
The Bystřický Park of Miniatures offers a particularly vivid perspective on the surrounding area. This museum exhibition near the winter stadium in the Lužánky district of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem recreates the Svratka Valley with around twenty models of castles, monasteries and other architectural monuments at a scale of 1:50. The reduced-scale presentation makes different buildings visible in a single overview without blurring their historical individuality.
At Centrum EDEN, the Horácká village is one of the other cultural and historical attractions. It consists of seven buildings that are replicas of structures from the 19th century. In addition, Farma koutek offers an experience with live animals: visitors can feed, pet and photograph farm animals, as well as have close contact with them. For families with different interests, historical displays and hands-on interaction with animals are therefore presented side by side in two clearly different forms.
Sports Activities and Regional Traditions
There is also a specific place to go for a more active stay. The Areál sportu a kultury complex includes a sports hall, fitness room, swimming pool and climbing wall. This combination offers various forms of physical activity under one roof and complements the town’s cultural attractions with sport and activity.
A culinary and regional tradition can be experienced at the potato festivals at Centrum EDEN. They are associated with farmers’ markets, thereby linking the festival with the sale and presentation of agricultural produce. Those who want to discover local culture not only through buildings and exhibitions will find a different way to experience the region here: through a festival and the products of the farming community.
