Březské combines village folk culture with a gently undulating landscape in the foothills of the Vysočina Region. The most distinctive landmark is the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary: it stands in the center of the village square and is considered a symbol of the municipality. If you are looking for a place with visible traditions, brief cultural points of interest and paths through a distinctive landscape, Březské offers several different possibilities for exploration.

A landscape of hills, streams and wet meadows

Březské lies at an elevation of approximately 468 to 483 meters above sea level. The surrounding area is characterized by gently undulating hills reaching heights of around 500 meters. The landscape therefore does not form a continuous mountain region, but rather gently structured hill country. At the edge of the built-up area runs the Březinka watercourse, which rises in the neighboring municipality of Březí.

Bodies of water and damp landscape areas are also part of the local scenery. The Skříňka pond is one of the most important bodies of water in Březské for ecological stability and improving water retention in the landscape. Watercourses and wet meadows have the highest ecological stability in the Březské area. This creates a landscape impression shaped not only by elevations and paths, but equally by water and wet meadows.

Chapel and living traditions

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the most important cultural point of reference in the village. The pilgrimage takes place there from Friday to Sunday in mid-August. In addition, there is a service in the chapel once a month on a Tuesday: during the winter season it begins at 5 p.m., and during the summer season at 6 p.m.

A special connection between the village and local customs is represented by the Obchůzka královniček. It has taken place in Březské since 2011 and continues to be held there. During this tradition, girls perform a sideways step in front of the chapel while singing the song “Král zlámal nohu.” In the Velkobítešsko area, the tradition was added at the end of 2015, under number 4/2015, to the list of intangible elements of the traditional folk culture of the Vysočina Region. The chapel can therefore be understood not only as a building, but also as a venue for regional culture.

Hiking and cycling on routes with different alignments

A marked green hiking trail runs through the built-up area of Březské. It approaches from the north and continues toward the southeast. This provides a documented route through the village for orientation on foot, without presupposing any particular hike or duration.

Two cycling routes also pass through the area in clearly distinct ways. Cycling Route 5241 runs from Čikov via Jáchymov, Osová Bítýška, Níhov and Žďarec to Krčma, crossing the administrative area of Březské from north to south. Cycling Route 5235 runs from Velká Bíteš via Vlkov, Osová, Heřmanov, Dolní Libochová and Strážek to Zvole; it passes through the southern part of the cadastral area of Březské. If you would like to combine culture and landscape with a cycling stage when planning your trip, you can consider these two routes, which are described as occupying different areas, separately.

Getting oriented on site

At the edge of Březské, on road III/3793 near the fire station, there is a bus stop with a shelter. When looking for a hotel or other accommodation, you can therefore first decide whether folk culture, the landscape or the routes through the municipality should be the main focus of your trip.
