Velká Turná reveals itself in many different facets: village culture, a pond landscape and marked cycling routes. Those looking for a place in the Czech Republic for a family holiday with quiet discoveries and active excursions will find several different points of interest here: historic buildings in the village, the Milava pond in the administrative area and routes that pass through Velká Turná.

Village Square, Chapel and Unusual Mill Architecture

The chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in Velká Turná’s village square. Following its restoration, it was consecrated on 19 May 2007. The village center therefore has a specific historic focal point that forms part of an exploration of the village.

A heritage-listed watermill stands in Velká Turná on the Rojický stream. The watermill complex is considered a uniquely well-preserved complex of Renaissance origin and creates a distinctive architectural accent. The Renaissance origins of the mill and the creation of the farmstead complex in the first half of the 19th century mark two different historical periods in Velká Turná. The mill belongs to water-related architecture, while the farmstead complex represents a rural farm structure. The farmstead complex No. 54 is also informative in terms of rural architecture. It dates from the first half of the 19th century and has a preserved Empire-style gable with a triangular pediment. The complex includes a residential building, stables and a barn. Those who like to combine visible traces of regional history with walks through a village while on holiday can discover several different forms of architecture here, without limiting themselves to a single monument.

The buildings also represent different connections to the village: the chapel is associated with the village square, the mill with the Rojický stream and farmstead complex No. 54 with a rural farm structure. The history of the village therefore cannot be reduced to a single building; it appears in sacred, water-related and rural architecture, each with its own characteristics.

Pond Landscape and Outdoor Recreation

Milava pond lies in the administrative area of Velká Turná. Velká Turná is also a fish-farming area with opportunities for fishing. The Milavy recreational complex is located in the vicinity of Velká Turná. The ATC Milavy car camping site offers grassy pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Milava pond and the Milavy recreational complex are two different destinations: Milava lies in the administrative area, while Milavy is in the vicinity of Velká Turná.
