Radošovice near Strakonice – Culture, Rocks and the Volyňka
Accommodation in Radošovice
Radošovice near Strakonice combines traces of cultural history with a small climbing area and landscapes along the Volyňka. The čp. 9 farm complex, the Radošovické skály, the valley near Radošovické Podskalí and the cycling trail between Strakonice and Volyně offer different perspectives on the village. During your stay, you can choose between history, active time outdoors and a route along the Volyňka. Each focus creates its own emphasis: the farm complex represents history, the rocks activity and the Volyňka a landscape that can also be explored along the cycling trail.
Cultural history at the čp. 9 farm complex
A cultural and historical point of interest is the čp. 9 farm complex, including its ramparts and the former fortified site. It is registered as an immovable cultural monument under number 15583/3-4342. The site of the former fortress is a raised area approximately 70 m in diameter, surrounded by a wall; traces of a rampart can be seen in places beneath the masonry. The view therefore extends beyond the farm complex to the terrain and the traces of the former fortification. The late Gothic granary is the most valuable part of the čp. 9 farm complex. Its lower section has been dated dendrochronologically to the period shortly after the middle of the 15th century. The history of ownership also reaches far back: Radošovice near Strakonice belonged to the Knights Hospitaller of Strakonice from 1243 until the end of the 18th century.
The Radošovické skály and the Volyňka Valley
The Radošovické skály lie beyond Radošovice along the Strakonice–Volyně railway line. This small climbing area has a vertical wall with around twenty routes of medium difficulty. Anyone looking for a more active focus during their stay will find a clearly defined option here. The vertical wall and medium difficulty give the climbing area a different profile from the Volyňka Valley, where the river and rocks together shape the landscape. Another facet can be seen near Radošovické Podskalí: there, the Volyňka forms a romantic valley together with the surrounding rocks. Thus, at the same destination, sport-oriented rocks and a distinctive river landscape stand side by side as different experiences.
Railway stop, train and cycling trail
Radošovice has a railway stop in the southern part of the municipality on the Strakonice–Volary line. From Strakonice, Radošovice can be reached by the train known as “Volyňka”, on foot or by bicycle via the Volyňka cycling trail. In the western part of the Radošovice area, a designated cycling trail runs along the Volyňka between Strakonice and Volyně. The Radošovické skály can be reached from Radošovice railway station or Přední Zborovice railway station. When planning your stay, arrival, the climbing area and the cycling trail can therefore be considered as separate focal points. These different points of access help you give cultural history, the climbing area and the landscape separate consideration when planning.
