Kraselov between Pilgrimage and History
If you are looking for a place with a sacred history, historic buildings and a clearly defined excursion idea, Kraselov offers several different starting points for planning your trip. The pilgrimage tradition of St. Anne, the medieval origins of the Kraselov Zámeček, Baroque churches and traditional events come together here with an emerging excursion route. This allows you to get to know Kraselov according to your interests through culture, regional history, festivals or cycling.
St. Anne and the Path to the Hilltop
The St. Anne pilgrimage complex is located northeast of Kraselov on the road to Lhota u sv. Anny, on a hilltop reached by a tree-lined path. Its location alone represents a distinct historical reference point for finding your way around Kraselov. The hilltop and the tree-lined path give the visit a clear spatial sequence: first the path leads through the surrounding area, then you reach the religious destination with its own history.
The pilgrimage Church of St. Anne in Kraselov was founded in 1682 beside an allegedly miraculous spring. Another notable trace can be found inside the church itself: A chest in which Charles IV kept relics of saints, and which he gave to Vyšehrad provost Bedřich Chanovský from Dlouhá Ves, was brought from Rabí to Kraselov in July 1696 and permanently became part of an altar in the right side aisle.
Fortress, Church and Visible Details
The Kraselov Zámeček originated from a fortress dating back to the second half of the 14th century. Its history therefore reaches back to the Middle Ages and complements the religious heritage with a secular historical focal point.
The Church of St. Lawrence in Kraselov was originally Gothic and was given a Baroque makeover in the second half of the 17th century. A fresco of Saint Lawrence is located in the eastern gable. Your tour of the village therefore offers two clearly distinguishable architectural points of reference: the Gothic origins with later Baroque alterations and the fresco itself as a visible detail.
Traditions and Regional Atmosphere
The Vavřinecké slavnosti are a traditional event in Kraselov. Another traditional event is Pastýřské Vánoce at the Church of St. Anne. At Pastýřské Vánoce, mulled wine, grog, tea, gingerbread and Christmas pastries were offered. The festivals complement the sacred and historic sites with community traditions, providing another cultural point of reference alongside the architectural history.
Cycle Path and Excursion Route
Cycle path No. 1068 leads from the municipal office in Kraselov towards Sousedovice. If you would also like to connect your trip planning with a specific route, the Jižním Prácheňskem excursion route also begins in Kraselov. This provides two different forms of orientation: the cycle path points in a specific direction, while the excursion route beginning in Kraselov identifies the village as the starting point for a broader outing.
