Chrášťovice combines village history with surroundings where ponds, deep forests, and cycling play a role. At House No. 9, there is a wayside shrine and a cross. Those who wish to experience culture, landscapes, and local traditions side by side during their stay will find several different points of interest here. The combination of individual landscape monuments, the village square, and historic farm buildings offers different perspectives: religious symbols, commemorative culture, and rural architecture are all part of the village character.

Village Square, Farmsteads, and Local History

The village chapel on the square in Chrášťovice is designated as an architectural landmark. In the lower part of the square stands a memorial to the victims of the First World War. There is also an inn in the centre, with terrace seating that can be used in summer.

A particularly concrete example of rural architectural history is Farmstead No. 39. It is registered as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 32054/3-5159 and dates from the first half of the 19th century. Its buildings are arranged along a very narrow rectangular courtyard. On the western side stands a modernised rectangular residential building with a south-facing gable end and side wings. The compact courtyard layout and the orientation of the gable also make the farmstead interesting to visitors who pay attention to architectural forms and village landscapes.

Local history can also be traced through specific names and houses. The older place name Krašťovice was changed to Chrášťovice by a decree of the Provincial Administration dated 22 February 1924. Tomáš Čapek, a jurist and lawyer, writer, and historian, was born on 6 December 1861 in Chrášťovice u Strakonic. House No. 16 is known as the House of the Čapek Brothers; beautiful wayside shrines stand nearby.

Ponds, Forests, and the Surroundings

In the “Na skalici” area, on the boundary between the cadastral territories of Leskovice and Chrášťovice, there is a preserved archaeological site with burial mounds. East of Chrášťovice there is also the U Trpaslíka spring, which is designated as a landscape landmark. Its location on a cadastral boundary spatially connects the site with the two cadastral territories of Leskovice and Chrášťovice.

There are numerous ponds around Chrášťovice. The deep forests nearby are visited by mushroom pickers in summer, and the surroundings are used by cycling tourists. When choosing accommodation, you can therefore weigh whether the local history or the rural surroundings with their diverse attractions should be the main focus of your trip.

Traditions and Events

Traditional pilgrimage celebrations in Chrášťovice include a small-sided football tournament. A ceremonial fire brigade procession to the chapel is also part of these celebrations. At the beginning of September, the fire brigade in Chrášťovice also organises “Hasičské rozloučení s létem” in connection with a ZHVB competition. The sporting competition, fire brigade tradition, and timing at the beginning of September give the celebrations different accents.
