Discovering the Buzice Landscape

Buzický rybník and the historic structures complement the trails through the area. The village combines nature experiences and tangible traces of the past with specific destinations for walks and excursions.

Hiking, Cycling and Bridle Path

There are designated hiking trails, cycling routes, and a bridle path in the Buzice area. The surroundings can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or along the bridle path. This allows you to focus your planning on active pursuits without limiting yourself to just one way of getting around. The three types of paths offer different opportunities for exercise and mean that your stay does not depend on a single mode of transport.

Buzický rybník covers 40.3 hectares and is fed by the Lomnice and Mračovský potok. At Buzický rybník, you can walk along the dam and on the southern shore. The pond’s size and its two tributaries give this waterscape its own distinctive character. The walk can begin at the dam or on the southern shore, keeping it closely connected to the body of water.

A cycle path and the yellow-marked hiking trail from Blatná to Myštice cross the Baroque bridge in Buzice. The connection between Blatná and Myštice thus offers a shared section for cycling and hiking excursions. At this point, the Baroque bridge is not only a historic structure but also a specific point in the trail network.

Historic Structures in Buzice

Buzická tvrz is closed; admission is possible only by prior arrangement. The main surviving features of Buzická tvrz are a residential tower, a palace, parts of the fortification walls, ramparts, and the remains of a moat. The surviving complex therefore reveals both architectural and defensive traces. Even without regular tours, the preserved historic substance remains a defining theme of the village.

Another historic structure is the historic stone bridge over the Lomnice southeast of Buzice. It is an architecturally significant object. In Buzice itself, the Baroque bridge over the Lomnice has two arches and a niche chapel. The bridge southeast of Buzice and the one in the village differ in location and design. At the Baroque bridge, the two arches and the niche chapel define its appearance.

For walks and impressions of the landscape, Buzický rybník with its dam and southern shore are ideal; for cycling and hiking days, the designated cycling routes, hiking trails, and the route from Blatná to Myštice are relevant points of reference. If you are more interested in history, Buzická tvrz and the two bridges take center stage. There is also a functioning bus stop with a shelter at the beginning of the village square.
