Studená is a destination for travelers who view village architectural history and the Berounka landscape as two distinct travel interests. As a whole, the historic part represents the traditional structure of a rural settlement in the region. The heritage zone, specific timber buildings and protected landscape provide clear themes to guide your search for a suitable place to stay.

Village Structure and Heritage Zone

Studená was designated a heritage zone by a 1995 decree of the Czech Ministry of Culture. As a whole, the historic part of Studená represents the traditional structure of a rural settlement in the region. For your travel plans, this brings the character of the historic part of the village to the fore, rather than just a single building. If you are interested in rural settlement patterns, this overall picture may make Studená the right destination for you.

Architecture in Specific Detail

A precise architectural detail can be seen at farmstead No. 5: the timber-framed building has three rectangular entrances on its south side, leading to three separate chambers. The matching form and the interior layout go hand in hand: the entrances are not merely façade features, but lead to separate rooms. Cottage No. 19 offers a second chapter in the area's building history. It was built in the early 19th century. Its timber structures and, in part, its floor plan were preserved during restoration. The two examples highlight different aspects: No. 5 focuses on entrances and chambers, while No. 19 focuses on its construction date and preserved building elements. Architectural interest thus ranges from the layout of a building to its surviving structure. Based on pottery shards, the settlement at V Jamech is dated to the 11th–12th centuries. Six clearly defined circular structures, each about three meters in diameter, have survived. This dating is much earlier than the construction of Cottage No. 19 in the early 19th century.

The Berounka and Its Protected Landscape

The cadastral area of Studená u Chříče is part of Berounka Nature Park. Downstream from Studená, on the opposite bank of the Berounka, lies the Chlumská stráň National Nature Reserve. Across the wider region, the nature park protects the landscape character of the deeply incised valley of the Berounka and its tributaries, as well as the rock outcrops, adjacent forest complexes and agricultural landscape. The region's natural setting therefore extends beyond the river valley alone: rocks, forests and agricultural landscapes are also protected landscape features.
