Plánice combines cultural discoveries with experiences in nature and active pursuits. The main attractions are the museum in the birthplace of František Křižík, distinctive Baroque buildings, the protected „Plánický hřeben“ Nature Park and routes connecting the town with other destinations. This allows you to give your stay different emphases: with an excursion to historical sights, a hike or a cycling tour. When choosing your accommodation, the key question is therefore which of these facets should be the focus of your stay.

Active days in and around Plánice

The Plánice sports complex has three multifunctional courts with synthetic surfaces and lighting for ball sports. The three courts thus bring together several ball sports options in one place. The synthetic surfaces and lighting describe specific conditions for this use; daily access throughout the year during opening hours makes it easier to plan an active day. The marked red Křižíkova cesta hiking trail begins in Plánice and leads via Nepomuk to Rokycany. A separate option for cycling is the „Krásnou krajinou do Plánice“ cycling tour: it leads from Újezd via cycle route 2082 to Plánice and back to Klatovy via cycle route 2080. The two route options provide a clear basis if you would like to choose between a hiking connection and a cycling tour.

Technical history and Baroque buildings

At the Plánice Information Centre, you can obtain promotional materials; souvenirs are also sold there. The museum in the birthplace of František Křižík features a modern exhibition. František Křižík, whose birthplace museum is located in Plánice, was an electrical engineer, inventor and entrepreneur. Alongside the Baroque architecture, a specific chapter of technical history is therefore also at the centre of the town.

The Church of St Blaise was built according to designs by Kilián Ignác Diezenhofer. In the Baroque Church of St Blaise, the painting on the main altar is changed several times a year. Its broad entrance staircase makes it a distinctive landmark of Plánice. The building thus combines a fixed architectural form with a painting that is changed several times a year. Plánice Square is also home to the Holy Trinity Column, an example of regional Baroque stonework and sculpture from the early 18th century.

Nature and a destination in the surrounding area

Plánice is located in the protected „Plánický hřeben“ Nature Park. For an additional cultural excursion, head to nearby Nicov: the pilgrimage Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is located 2 km from Plánice and is a Baroque work by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. The nature park shapes the landscape around Plánice; the pilgrimage church in Nicov adds a distinctive Baroque accent of its own.
