Nezamyslice combines a protected church ensemble with a diverse cultural landscape. On a hill on the northwestern edge of the town stands the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; from the Chapel of St Erazimus, views extend across the Panský nezamyslický Pond to Rabí Castle. The Lamberská Trail is another attraction, presenting Nezamyslice as a notable stop between churches, museums and other sights.

Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Chapel of St Erazimus

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is part of a protected heritage ensemble. In the first half of the 14th century, a new church was built in Nezamyslice in the Klatovy District on the site of an older sanctuary. Around 1515, the nave was transformed into a three-aisled hall with net-vaulted ceilings. The building history is thus directly present in the townscape, without requiring you to connect several scattered stops.

West of the church and outside the cemetery stands the Chapel of St Erazimus. Its foundation is dated to the first half of the 17th century; in 1860, it was repaired and converted into the family crypt of the Lamberg family. The chapel contains a unique collection of tomb slabs belonging to the Lamberg family, most of which date from the 16th century. The church grounds also include the small Nezamyslických kostelů Museum. It was established in the former mortuary and features an exhibition with information panels and several exhibits from the churches’ storage facilities.

The Lamberská Trail as a Cultural Route

The Czech section of the Lamberská Trail is an almost 50-kilometre circular route that you can explore in stages on foot or by car. The route connects visits to museums, châteaux, viewpoints and pilgrimage churches. In Nezamyslice, it leads to a stop whose central sights are the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Chapel of St Erazimus. This allows the town to be viewed both as a cultural destination in its own right and as part of a longer circular route.

Pond, Views and Small Local Details

An unmarked footpath around the Panský nezamyslický Pond offers views of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Rabí Castle. Along the way, there are opportunities to observe birds, plants and fish. From the viewpoint near the Chapel of St Erazimus, views extend west and south; Rabí Castle can be seen to the northwest across the pond. A large car park below the church provides a clear point of orientation on arrival.

The town itself also contains other historical points of interest: the former school building at the church cemetery was attended from 1854 to 1855 by the writer Karel Klostermann. At a crossroads in the eastern part of Nezamyslice stands a statue of St John of Nepomuk, while the war memorial lists the names of fallen soldiers. The niche chapel of the Virgin Mary is built into a wall; its origins are estimated to date from the 19th century.

If you are looking for a hotel in Nezamyslice, you can base your choice on whether you would primarily like to combine your stay with church and museum culture, the Lamberská Trail or observations around the pond.
