Capartice combines a distinctive meadow landscape with a village history shaped by timber supply and old transport routes. You can discover the area through both its nature and its past.

Capartické louky in spring and early summer

Numerous rare and endangered plant species grow in the Capartické louky meadows. The meadows are at their most beautiful in spring and early summer—a good time to experience the landscape and its plant life. The nature trail’s circular route is about 2 km long and runs through the southern part of the Český les Protected Landscape Area. The loop offers a specific route through the protected area and views of a species-rich meadow landscape.

A nature trail with interactive features

The nature trail starts and ends at the car park in Capartice. It follows both paved and unpaved paths, is easy to walk and is suitable for small children. Interactive features illustrate the effects of water. This makes the route more than just a walk through the meadows: you can also explore the landscape through the theme of water. There is also a refreshment stop, Capík, along the trail. If you are planning to stop there, check in advance whether it will be open on the day of your visit.

A starting point for trails and viewpoints

The car park is on the main road beside the bus stop and serves as a starting point for the nature trail, the nearby Výhledy viewpoint, and the marked hiking trail to Čerchov and the Kurzova věž observation tower. A statue of local writer Jindřich Šimon Baar stands at Výhledy. Each destination offers something different: the nature trail leads through the meadows, Výhledy combines views with a literary connection, and the marked hiking trail leads to Čerchov. Before setting out, check the latest information about parking and seasonal access restrictions.

Village history along the old country road

Capartice was founded in 1705 by Count Jan Stadion. He settled woodcutters there to supply timber for the Stadion family’s hammer mills and glassworks. The village’s founding thus links it to the supply of these businesses. An old country road also shaped the village: the U zeleného stromu inn once stood at its highest point. Horse-drawn teams came as far as the inn; below Klenčí Hill, they were hitched to or unhitched from heavy wagons. The inn is part of Capartice’s past. Together, the settlement of the woodcutters and the horse-drawn traffic tell two distinct sides of local history.
