Hradešice is a destination for travelers who want to combine culture, landscapes and cycling. The town brings together a parish church documented since the Middle Ages, other religious sites, connections to two nature parks and two signposted cycling routes. This creates a varied setting for families who want to combine different interests during their stay, between exploring local history and discovering the surrounding landscape.

Religious Buildings and Local History

At the heart of the local cultural history is the present-day Church of the Transfiguration in Hradešice. It is a late Baroque building dating from 1772. At the same time, the church has been documented as a parish church since 1360. These two dates demonstrate the connection between an older religious tradition and the present building. The church also preserves remnants of Gothic frescoes on the original vault. This gives the interior a historical feature that extends beyond the visible architecture of the late Baroque building.

The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua is also part of Hradešice's religious heritage. It is listed among the religious and pilgrimage sites of the Diocese of České Budějovice. Another chapel is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk and dates from 1882. Those interested in smaller religious buildings will therefore find several different points of interest here: the long history of the parish church, remnants of Gothic furnishings, a pilgrimage site recorded by the diocese and a 19th-century chapel.

Local history also preserves an unusual culinary episode. At the former U Panušků inn, innkeeper Karel Panuška was the first in Bohemia to introduce the production of Hungarian salami in 1880. The description “former inn” is important here: this is a historical reference, not a statement about a current dining option.

Nature Park Landscapes and Two Cycling Connections

A large part of the municipality of Hradešice lies within Horažďovická pahorkatina Nature Park. In addition, Budětice Nature Park extends into the southern part of the municipality along its edge. This distinction is useful when choosing the direction of your outing: one nature park shapes a large part of the municipality, while the other reaches only into the southern area along the edge.

Cycling Route 2075 runs through the municipality along the Budětice–Černíč–Hradešice–Smrkovec–Břežany route. Cycling Route 2077 offers a different alignment: it comes from Otěšín via Hradešice and continues toward Malý Bor. It uses both local roads and purpose-built paths. The two routes differ in their starting and ending directions as well as in their route layouts. This makes Hradešice appealing for travel planning in which landscapes and cycling have their own place alongside the cultural program.
