Depoltice combines traces of history with marked hiking trails and the landscape of Šumava. If you would like to bring culture, activity and regional destinations together in your travel plans, you will find several clearly distinguishable starting points for planning here.

St. Isidore Church and local history

A defining cultural monument is St. Isidore Church in Děpoltice. It has been protected as an immovable cultural monument since 1958. Its history goes back further: the present church building was erected in 1805 on the site of an earlier chapel that had already been dedicated to St. Isidore in 1751. Děpoltice therefore offers a specific historical connection that is distinct from the landscape experiences in the surrounding area.

Educational Trail, Golden Trail and Circular Hiking Route

The “Po stopách formanů” educational trail comprises seven stations and includes St. Isidore Church in Děpoltice as one of them. The church is also part of Stage 9 of the Golden Trail from Javorná to Nýrsko. In Děpoltice, this stage passes St. Isidore and then continues along the “Po stopách formanů” educational trail. This makes it possible to include historical points of orientation and a signposted themed trail in the same travel plan.

For a longer hike, the marked “Okolo Nýrska přes Děpoltice” circular hiking route is available. It is 19.3 km long and of moderate difficulty. The route leads from Děpoltice along a green-marked hiking trail around Želivský vrch to the settlement of Blata. The educational trail’s seven stations and the circular route’s 19.3 kilometres therefore offer different ways to explore the surroundings without equating the routes with one another.

The two hiking options focus on different aspects. The educational trail connects seven stations with a specific cultural monument and can be understood as a thematic sequence of stopping points. At 19.3 km and rated as moderate, the circular route provides the framework for an extended hike; its course around Želivský vrch to the settlement of Blata gives the hiking day a clear spatial structure. This allows you to distinguish between a culture-oriented sequence of stops and a longer loop through the regional surroundings without equating the routes in terms of theme or length. This allows you to choose between a thematic exploration and an extended loop with more time to spend on the trail.
