Smržice is a destination for travellers who want to combine local history with activity and small discoveries. The village brings together a church, a Baroque rectory, memorial sites and a sports complex. An educational and pilgrimage trail, historical points of interest, and mountains and hills in the surrounding area expand the choice of excursion destinations.

Church, Rectory and Memorial Culture

The Church of Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla in Smržice was built from 1854 to 1860 and consecrated on 6 October 1861 by the auxiliary bishop of Olomouc, Rudolf Baron von Thyssebaart. The interior is 42 metres long, 14 metres wide and 19 metres high. Thus, in addition to its date, the church also has clearly identifiable spatial dimensions.

The Baroque rectory of Smržice was built in 1761 by Pastor Vogl on the site of an old demolished building and is the oldest building in the municipality. The municipality uses it for Easter and Christmas exhibitions. Alongside its architectural history, seasonal use is therefore also part of the village's character.

In front of the Sokolovna in Smržice stands a Boží muka wayside shrine from the first half of the 18th century, regarded as the oldest in the Prostějov District. The nearby surroundings also include the Pomník obětem 1. světové války memorial and the Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého statue. There are three memorial plaques in the territory of Smržice commemorating the important personalities born in Smržice: Jakub Kresy, Jaroslav Kubíček and editor Josef Kotek.

Activity in Different Formats

For sporting variety, the sports and community complex in Smržice has a court with an artificial surface for tennis, small-sided football and nohejbal. The three uses show that different ball games each have their own place here.

At the 25th edition of the Smržická šlapka cycling event on Saturday, 2 September 2023, both off-road routes and road routes were available. The event therefore offered two clearly distinct types of route.

The Naučná a poutní stezka to Stráž is 3.6 kilometres long. It leads from the village centre to Stráž and back to the final station and is marked with the green KČT trail marking. For orientation, both the exact length and the route described are therefore specified.

Landscape and Destinations in the Surrounding Area

The mountains Horka, Chlum and Předina are located in the surroundings of Smržice. Their location complements the cultural destinations directly in the village with further landscape features. In the wider regional surroundings of Smržice is the Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války memorial. Andělů strážných is located in the surroundings of Smržice.
